"must try" goodies at WDW?

I have the Fodor's 2006 Disney with kids book and the 2006 unofficial guide to WDW. Either in one of those books, or on one of these forums I saw a list of must try foods (they were snack/dessert type things, not meals... I recall a french toast bread being on the list) at WDW. Can anyone tell me where this list is, or provide your own ideas for yummy treats we should try to find while at the parks?

Thanks!
Nicole

I just had my first Dole Whip last month. Actually, it was the float. The float is the Dole Whip (pineapple softserve) on top of fresh pineapple juice. It was a little much for me, so next time I will just get the Dole Whip. Anyway, it was absolutely delicious!

These aren't necessarily snacks, but here's what I liked best on this trip:

Chocolate chip muffin from Sunshine Seasons (is that the name) in The Land at Epcot
Chili Cheese fries from Pecos Bill's in MK (very yummy)
Healthier breakfast choice at CRT; I got this last year also. I just love it! The caramelized bananas are heavenly.

As for which book recommends what, I'm guessing it is NOT the Unoffical Guide. Just because I have it, and I don't remember seeing that.

HTH!

I love the Minnie Strawberry frozen bars and Aly can't do without the Mickey ice cream bar..she also liked the Simba's paw print bar only at AK.

Root beer floats are good there, too.

Beware of the FROZEN chocolate bananas--they can break your teeth...lol.

As for the French toast, I know Cinderella's has a great recipe for breakfast.

All I can say is DOLE WHIP, DOLE WHIP, DOLE WHIP!!!! I've had the Dole Whip float and the dole whip soft serve ice cream. I LOVE both of them. You can get those at the Magic Kingdom. I believe they are in the Alladin Carpet area. Can't remember what the land is.

Also, in that area is a kiosk that sells egg rolls. Every year, my BIL and I head to that area for a "snack" or for a "lunch" break! I was so disappointed in March. I went to that area for my annual egg roll and the kiosk was there, but wasn't open! I was so bummed!!! However, I did wander over to the Dole Whip counter and had desert instead of lunch!!!

DH says it's the breakfast lasagna at Crystal Palace. For me, nothing really comes to mind, but I do like a good Mickey Bar while we watch the parade!

Good topic!!

I am also partial to the Dole Whip, but I REALLY like the strawberry vanilla whip from Ms. Pott's Cupboard by the teacups. I am also very fond of the "bricks" of rice crispy treats topped with chocolate. In MGM, they have apples that have been dipped in caramel, then dipped in white chocolate, then dipped in milk chocolate, then rolled in m&m's, heath bar, etc. It is to DIE for. In Epcot, I like the kringel pretzel in Norway from the bakery. It's basically a sweet pretzel that has raisins in it, topped with a glaze. Yum. I also like the nuts they sell in the carts in Epcot that are glazed. Delicious. Best are the walnuts and get them fresh and warm. I could go on and on. I'm going Saturday to MK with the whole family (parents, siblings and all) and plan to snack my way through!

I found the list and have copied it below, with credit to the author at the end:

10. Kaki Gori at Epcot in Japan – a little on the sweet side, but lighter than ice creams, the shaved ice at this small stand comes in some unique flavors like; honeydew melon, strawberry and tangerine. A bargain at $2.25!

9. Turkey legs – available at every theme park, these must come from 85-pound turkeys because they’re huge! The Disney chefs inject them with saltwater to make them extra juicy and flavorful. Grab some napkins and go primal on one of these bad boys and don’t worry about the stares you might attract – they’re all just jealous.

8. Twinkie tiramisu at Disney’s Pop Century Resort - a retro spin on a classic desert.

7. Main Street Bakery at the Magic Kingdom – homemade goodies, including some sugar-free offerings. Try the blueberry loaf, hot French Toast loaf and Mickey Bundt cakes (not all at once, please). Also check out their assortment of Mickey Mouse Rice Krispie treats; they come plain, dipped in chocolate, and with sprinkles.

6. Cadbury chocolate bars – at Epcot in the UK , and from the UK, but much better than just OK. Really, if you’ve never had an English Cadbury bar, you don’t know what you’re missing.

5. Milkshakes from Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club Resort – hand dipped, thick and creamy. When was the last time you sported a milkshake mustache? For large crowds, or large appetites, try the Kitchen Sink; a huge sundae consisting of mountains of ice cream and toppings that is actually served in a kitchen sink.

4. Selma ’s cookies at the Boardwalk – oddly enough, these are available at the candy store, Seashore Sweets, rather than at the Boardwalk Bakery (go figure), but they are worth tracking down for their rich, buttery, homemade taste.

3. Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop at Downtown Disney Marketplace - everything is good and the atmosphere has a sophisticated ice cream shop plus coffee bar vibe. Very San Fran.

2. Zebra Domes at Animal Kingdom Lodge – offered as a desert on the Boma buffet, Zebra Domes are also available in the food court, Mara, on the lower level of the resort near the pool. They consist of a layer of sponge cake, topped with chocolate mousse then covered in white and dark chocolate ganache stripes. Fun and yum rolled into one!

And the number one snack at the Walt Disney World Resort is:

1. Two words: Dole Whip! Available in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom, a Dole Whip is a soft-serve pineapple ice cream dream. Adding to the ecstasy, Dole Whips are also served paired with pineapple juice in a Dole Float. Heavenly!
