My 3 year old is 39.5 inches

She'll just BARELY miss the height requirement for a few of the rides she is really interested in this year - Splash Mountain and Soarin'.
I've never had a child so close to the cut-off for any of our previous trips. Assuming A doesn't grow another half an inch in the next few months, does anyone know how picky the CMs are on these 2 rides if, say, your child has tennis shoes or sandals that will bump them up to 40"?

I think it all depends on the CM. On the rides that are more intense or with long lines, there are sometimes a CM measuring at the front and another at the actual ride entry point...I saw one kid get told he could go into Soarin' and then after walking all the way up (and waiting a long time to do so) he was told he didn't quite meet the height requirement. UGH!
That being said, I *THINK* they measure with shoes on, I'm can't remember ever seeing a CM make a kid take their shoes off to measure them. So if she has tennis shoes that will add 1/2 inch, you *should* be ok. Maybe someone else can confirm that, though...I just can't remember seeing any kids with shoes off for measuring...

They measure with shoes on, but they also take into consideration the type of shoes. Say if you have a 3yr old *girlie girl* that has those flip flops on that have a higher heel, they will probably not let her on. But regular tennies that have a higher heel will get through. KWIM?
It also pretty much depends on the CM as well. But, 1/2 inch...I think they will let her slide through.
Good luck

Last year ds was 39.75 inches (Measured at the dr's office the week before) and they would not let him on Thunder Mountain. Oh well, that's what this year is for!

Thanks everyone! I think I'll just start prepping her for the inevitable....that she won't be able to go on these 2 rides. Maybe she'll get her crying out of the way at home. :(

Laurie,
Hi Laurie,
I haven't read the other replies, but I really want you to read the trip report by...gosh, can't remember the poster's name, but her kids were Isaac and Trevor, and one reason I remember this so well is because of the ongoing story of the poor 3 year old constantly being turned away at the entrance to the rides that his big brother was allowed to ride!!
So, IMHO, I would do whatever I could to prevent the misery (for your DD as well as everyone else!) of a disappointed child...if you're not SURE she makes it, I wouldn't even go near those rides and avoid the drama, really. I mean, I know it's easier said than done and she will still be sad if she's hoping to ride, but I'm a believer in the power of distraction to keep things happy, kwim? (Rather than exposing her to the experience of getting measured with the chance of being sent away) Just my NSHO! :)
Thanks for your input! I appreciate it.
I am 100% in agreement with you......my plan is to tell her A the rides were a no-go, but maybe give it a shot at the park since she's so close. If she can get on, it'll just be a nice surprise. If not, she already knows the score.
Not that it's a fullproof plan or anything (we'll see).......and I'm thinking Splash Moutain really might be a bit much for a 3 year old anyway. Soarin' I KNOW she can handle, and maybe we'll get lucky. :)

A friend of ours DD was very short for her age, so they often put Skechers on her because they have the thickest soles for tennis shoes.
