And I already bought my tickets for may!!! here's the story, here in milwaukee is a wonderful airline called Midwest Airlines, they have cheep (imo) direct flights from milwaukee to orlando, they were $188 ish. And they have two across leather seating, so it's a nice airline at a great price! with tons of room! Well it figures Air Tran is looking to buy them out!!! it's all in negotiations, they've made the leak to the media etc, so now what! What will happen to my tickets! What will happne to my non stop flight! This new one is already saying that there would be less direct flights, too.

I am sorry I don't know about the airline takeover. I just wanted to send HUGS and wishes that all will go smoothly. I am sure someone will be able to help you out.

Hey!

I live in Milwaukee too(well a western suburb)...we have tickets to LA in May purchased already.

I am praying that ME doesn't go with AirTran. It would just ruin the airline. I love ME. If they change I don't know who I will fly. We have been flying strictly with them for 10 years.

Hi Sarah! I'm suburb too, out towards lake Geneva, this will so stink! So you have your tickets purchased with midwest too? we leave may 10 I think it is, I wonder if they do take over if we get a refund or what? or if we have to fly with air tran regardless? I guess I could always call midwest's customer service line, they're usually awesome and helpful with everything else we've ever needed.... I'm going to miss the 2 across seating too! MAN!! I sure hope this falls thru!

Here's an FAQ about the proposal from Air Trans website. It really doesn't give much information but states that there will be no impact on current travel plans. http://www.airtran.com/midwest/default.aspx#FAQ

Sonya,

You haven't flown until you fly Midwest. The seats are wide and for those of us who are 6'+ there is plenty of leg room, PLUS warm chocolate chip cookies on every flight.

I hope Midwest stays smart and says NO!

I hate layovers and their direct flights are so cheap that I will miss them if they get bought out.

LOL - I certainly wasn't saying Airtran was better than Midwest, just providing what little information I had and providing my personal experiance. I've been flying with Airtran since they were Value Jet since they're based outof Atlanta where I lived and were way cheaper than other airlines and flying standby on Delta

Trying not to hijack the thread here but.............Since dh is extending his trip when I join him I will probably have to buy him another ticket. We are coming home to a different airline. Anyway, do you like airtran? I think that is the one that I may have to go with. I don't know much about them and it has a nonstop flight to the airport we want as well. Thanks for your help! We haven't flown in years and the last time we flew was pre 9/11. I am not looking forward to the security.

Natalie - the only problem I have ever had with Airtran was when they changed our flights and didn't tell us. (though their computer showed that they called and left a phone message that we didn't get) But since THEY changed it, we were able to change it again without penalty.

Thanks for the reassurance. I am so excited amd hesitant about this trip! Dh has been working nonstop and we need to buy him some clothes and such. That is hard to do when he is working! Anyway, I am now trying to figure out if they will give him park passes. From the itinerary that he received yesterday(!), it looks like they aren't going to buy them. Now I need to figure out what I am going to do! I think he will join me the last night after his party in our hotel room. They have a big banquet the last night and the next day is only a travel day. So I am thinking that he will check out of his hotel before the banquet and have his luggage moved ot our hotel? Will that work? Can you tell this is making me nuts?????????????????
