New here and very excited!

I've been lurking a little while and reading posts older and new for tips. This board is filled with lots of valuable BTDT information!
Can I tap your brains some more? ;o)
We're planning a trip to DW in May, this year. We've thought about staying in a hotel outside of Disney, thinking that may be more cost effective, etc. but I think we've narrowed it down to staying at one of the DW resorts. It's super that they have the package options available and *if* we go, we'll have the package that includes airfare & Disney picking us up at the airport, etc. ("Magic Express" + ground?) We're also considering adding the dining option

Hi, and welcome!!!
I'm not sure how much I can help, but I'll try! We did the dining plan on our last trip, and I have it for our May trip as well. It was well worth it to us, saved us some money. I think it depends on the family, but we liked it. It was nice having our meals paid for ahead of time. There were a couple of times we ordered something extra and had to pay, but it wasn't a big deal to us. We did a couple extra table service meals that we paid cash for, but we knew that going in and had budgeted for that. I can't think of anything negative about it for us. Some people don't like having to make ADR's ahead of time, but that's pretty much necessary now anyway, if you want to eat a table service meal, regardless of if you have the dining plan or not. If you go with the ddp, make sure you make all of your ADRs as soon as you can. Even if you aren't going to use the ddp, you'll need to make ADRs for any sit-down or character meals you want to do. A lot of places fill up these days.
We've never rented a car at WDW (or anywhere else, lol) so I can't help there. I *think* I read that there is a place at the Dolphin resort (near Epcot/MGM) that you can rent a car, but hopefully someone else can confirm that. We've always used Disney transportation even if we did have our car; it's easier for us. Not everyone will agree with me on that! I do see that you are concerned about getting your daughter to an ER if necessary, I know there is one in Celebration that is fairly close to WDW, but I don't know where it is.
You can rent a wheelchair at all four of the parks. I don't think you have to reserve them, I think you can just go when you need one, but again, someone else may know for sure. You also might check allearsnet.com, they should have the information there and it would be accurate.
I've never used a Travel Agent, I just call Disney and book everything. If you're going to use a TA, make sure you get one that is a Disney Specialist, otherwise, they may give you wrong info. Sad, but it's happened before. I would use Sonya (cl-ktbugsmom here on this board) if I were going to use a TA. She's very knowledgeable about Disney, even before she became a TA. You can email her through the link in her signature if you want more info.
Hope this helps somewhat, stick around and ask any questions you think of!
Steph
I can only help with a couple of things.
