In case anyone is flying out for Disney soon, this might be helpful info. I work for a newspaper, and this message came from our travel dept. this morning:

United States Changes

TSA is immediately implementing following changes to airport screening procedures: NO LIQUIDS OR GELS OF ANY KIND WILL BE PERMITTED IN CARRY-ON BAGGAGE. ITEMS MUST BE IN CHECKED BAGGAGE. This includes all beverages, shampoo, suntan lotion, creams, tooth paste, hair gel, and other items of similar consistency. Exception: Baby formula, breast milk, or juice if a baby or small child is traveling; prescription medicine with a name that matches the passenger’s ticket; and insulin and essential other non-prescription medicines. Please check with your air carrier well before your flight departs for information on when you should arrive at the airport. A good rule of thumb would be to utilize check in luggage and minimize carry luggage for more efficient check-in.

British Changes
Authorities are dramatically stepping up security measures at British airports. Among other things, passengers will not be able to bring any hand baggage with them on planes departing from any airport in Britain. Authorities are allowing passengers to board flights carrying only bare essentials, such as passports and wallets. If passengers have any questions on their travel arrangements or security in place at airports they should contact their airline or carrier.

Yeah, I just called my Pediatrician...they won't write a script for my diaper rash cream!! I am now going to call the airline to see if that falls under the "Essential, non perscription medications" That, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, cut cleaner, contact lens solution, bug bite cream and neosporin are ALWAYS in my diaper bag!!

While I do not mind checking those items, we were not planning on waiting for our bags to hit the parks! We don't burn easily eiter, and have spent the entire summer outside, but I know Florida Sun is much Harsher than it is up here int eh north! I can't imagine Sunscreen that we applied at 6 AM being any good when we hit the parks around noon! And no diaper rash cream? EW!.

At least I can take a couple juice boxes and some frozen breast milk! My kids almost 6, just turned 4 and nearly 14 months. The 14 month old has some mild food sensitivites, and dairy is one of them.

Ugh!!

BREATHE>>>>10 days and we will be in the company of a Mouse!!

I actually read that the poor people in the UK could not bring anything at all as carryon - just their passports, tix and wallets.

FYI to those of you flying..... My son and I flew this past Friday and Sunday. The regulations were printed out and posted everywhere in all three airports we were in, but the word "juice" was marked out in permanent marker. In other words- baby formula and breast milk were ok, but juice was not. I noticed that they revised the regulations today to say that baby food is permissible, but I wouldn't count on juice being ok. Apparently it must have been originally, but then they changed their minds so it was crossed out. This was true in all three airports we were in. Good luck- the regulations could change at any time.

They added gel inserts for shoes to the no go list today. http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/new-items.shtm

Were they still serving snacks & drinks on the plane? I can't imagine they were since the airport shops past security are not allowed to sell the banned items, but someone asked me and I have no idea. They have a long (typically a meal served) flight.

Yes, they were still serving snacks and drinks on the plane. One of our flights didn't, but it was very short.

The airports were selling drinks and other banned items in the gift shops that are past security, and there were plenty of people in the terminal with coffee, sodas, etc. You just had to drink it/use it before you got on the plane. It was still considered banned even if you bought it in the airport gift shop. The bottom line is- you can't bring any banned items through security, but you can buy them once you are in the gate area. Just finish them before you get on the plane.

Interestingly, as we were going through the Charlotte terminal, I saw the Body Shop- I don't imagine their business was very good this past weekend! They were open, but they had signs up everywhere warning people of the regulations.

That's hysterical. Sorry sir, you can't bring your water on the plane, please finish it or discard it before boarding.......
