OMG, this is the cheapest trip I've had!

Okay, I've been to WDW 7- 8 times in the past 3 year. I travel with my two toddlers (DD now 4, DS now 3) and DH and usually go during value season. I have truly planned the mother of all budget vacations this year and have to share:

I signed up for airfare sale notifications from a local airline. I don't use major airports anymore but drive a little longer to get to a local airport that flies direct to Orlando from NJ. The lines are short, the flights are the same, the price is WAAAY better. My total airfare, after taxes, for four people, was $251 ($21 each way + taxes and fees)

I got my room at $59/night (ASMu) since I have an AP. Would've still saved a bit if I didn't though.

I just got done booking the rental car on Priceline. I got a minivan for 6 days

Regarding the hotel, what is an AP?

I used Spirit. They've even had the occasional $1 sale to someplace I'd actually travel lol. You just have to be ready book the fares when you get them. I've booked the fares a day after they come out, but have seen them

Sorry I missed this earlier! An AP is an Annual Pass. It's worth it if you're going more than once a year or if you once for a few weeks.

If you don't mind my asking, when is this value-filled vacay, that you could get airfare, hotel & car for those prices?

I am going 12/9 - 12/14 though I could've booked until 12/16 had I waited a day or so after Spirit originally posted the sale. Yes, I fly out of AC, MUCH faster than Philly, even though the drive there is longer.

That is a great deal! Have you flown with Spirit before? On another board someone was asking about any hidden costs and another poster replied with this info:

Checked baggage is $5 per piece, each way in advance for the first two bags when purchased online and $10 per piece, each way at the airport. (Customers will receive a discount for the first two (2) checked bags when purchased online).
Bags 3-5 are $100 per piece, regardless of purchasing online or at the airport on day of departure.

Just thought I would pass that along. Apparently

I would find vacation time to take a trip at that price! I've done the drive to and from Tampa when I wanted to visit Busch Gardens and you're right, it's not bad at all. I did think it's amazing that I don't think anything of driving from Orlando to Tampa to go to an amusement park yet I don't make the 30 minute trip to the
