We are arriving Jan 2, 2006 so I have checked all these things out.

Most of the holiday lights and parades, including the Osborne light display go until January 7. The WDW website has a listing of all special events.

You didn't ask but Blizzard Beach is closed until the 8th of January when it opens and Typhoon Lagoon closes for refurbishment.

Here's hoping we get good weather!

We are staying off site. We are planning a number of activites beyond Disney. I found an awsome deal on a townhouse and then we decided to take along my 73 year old mother. Everyone will have their own bedroom.

The last time we went it was early January as well. The temps were cool, dropping to the low 30's at night and not getting too much over 70 through the day. But the parks were so quiet. We didn't need to use any fastpasses, many rides we were asked if we wanted to stay on for a second time around. I would much rather wear a fleece than stand in lines for hours. I've heard than Jan can be warm in Florida. I hoping for warm, but planning on cool.

Maybe I should mention that I am from Central Canada as well and we will have a few feet of snow here, 70 degrees is much warmer than we will be getting at home.

I think I read that you are staying on site, correct?

Hi yes we are staying on site for just 2 nights before that we are staying at old towne we love that place have you been? there is a great car show on fri and sat nights i think sat is the oldie cars and that is better, music in the streets and just a cheap night hanging out. i am from RI so it will be cold here then too, so the 70 weather will be fine. i also am going over to clearwater my brother lives 45 minutes from there, those days are the only days i would like it warm the kids want togo to the beach. We'll see. I just flip floped my vacation, we were staying at disney then going to clearwater, but the prices were outrageous so i flip floped and save over $700. and the lines during xmas week would have been terrible, i think i made the right choice, i have read its quite, maybe Dh won'y be complaining about the waits lets hope.littlebitt

We have friends that went to WDW for Christmas and hated it. The lines were so long that the kids decided hanging out in the hotel room watching tv was more fun than doing the parks. Darned expensive tv time. I think you made the right choice.
