Overweight- ride question (DW)

Hello! I am going to DW for 5 nights over Labor Day with MIL/FIL, BIL/SIL, nephew and nieces. I am overweight and was wondering if anyone else (or someone in their group) and if they have had some problems with certain rides, etc.

DH is in Afghanistan so he won't be going on the vacation and I do not want to be embarrassed in front of his family.

Thanks in advance!!!!

Melissa

Edited to add: I have a large chest and I definetely going to avoid rides where the bars come down over you chest.

Hi Melissa! Well, I'm still a plus sized girl, but working on it! We just went to WDW and all parks July 8-16. I'm 5'7'' 238 lbs. I had no problems on any of the rides. There were lots of people much larger than me who went on them too. I went on just about every ride. The only one I think I missed was the tower of terror but I bet that one would have been fine too. The parks are very accomodating to bigger people and I know even if the regular seatbelts dont fit you they do have extenders you can ask for. I didnt have a problem with any of the seatbelts there was room to spare. What I'd do is just sit down pull it all the way out and fasten it. There was always more room if I needed it.

I really dont think you need to avoid any of the rides at all. Rockin roller coaster comes down from over your head...no problem for me. Mission space is a pull down restraint too and again no problem. Stitch was down over the shoulders too, again no problems at all. If I remember right the rest were all lap belts and were plenty big.

The only uncomfortable part I had was at the water parks, its just a little harder for bigger people to get down into those innertubes, but I still did it. I'm sure the only awkwardness was on my part, my size didnt hold anyone else back.

Try to relax about it and just have a GREAT time making memories!

All Ears has a wonderful site that details seating on attractions all around the parks.

Melissa,

You can ride on EVERY ride at Disney.

I am 6' tall and a plus sized. I have a HUGE chest and my hips are really wide. I am a really odd shape.

I have NEVER had any issues on any of the rides. Only ride I didn't feel comfortable on was ET at Universal. Small bike seats not good for big butt. :)

You will have no issues at all on any of the rides, pull down harness or not. We have friends that are bigger than us and they have never had any issues either. My DH has a gut and he has never had any issues.

I too am working on the loss. Good Luck & have fun on your trip with no restrictions!

Sarah,

Thank you SO MUCH. That really helps me think that I will have a fabulous time with the in-laws!! I am really looking forward to seeing my nieces faces (ages 3 and 4) as they see Disney for the first time. I want to remember this trip forever.

Thanks!

Melissa

I found Space Mountain to be a squeeze, (I'm pretty average, slightly overweight). but if others don't think there's a problem, i'm sure you're fine!

Yeah I didnt have a problem with Space Mountain at all, thats one where you just have a lap belt and you sit in your own seat, 2 to a cart.

Oh, yeah in Disneyland there were two people allowed to a cart, but not in Disney World.

It's one person a box, and there is a t-bar that comes over your legs.

was the original poster going to disneyland? I'm not very observant sometimes! sorry!
