this is my very first family vacation and of course things couldn't go smoothly to start, that would just be too easy! First, my trip cost more than my cc limit so I told my TA I would have to exchange money from my Canadian bank account and get an American money order. No problem right? WRONG! I deal with a bank (President's Choice Financial) Not sure if you have these types in the US but there is no actual branch to visit. All of my banking is done online so I never get any banking fees. I just found out that this is a great way to go until you need large sums of money withdrawn.
I call the 1-800 number and they tell me they will send the cash by post and I will recieve it in 1-2 business days. That was the 23rd, it is now the 29th and no money! I call them to find out it was sent to the wrong address about 10 houses away from me and someone signed for it!!!! I thought it would just be a money order but no, they sent CASH! Never heard of that before. Anyways, now a Canada Post rep has to approach these people and politely ask for the money back. Then they have to forward it to American Express who will then reissue it to me! And they are still charging me the $12.50 to have it delivered in 2 business days! Now I may not have this deposit until after the June 4 dealine for the dining plan! Terribly sorry to ramble but I am just sooo frustrated right now, tks for letting me vent!
My husband does not know that I now the address of where the money went to, should I tell him and have him "politely" ask for the money? I need a drink! Keep your fingers crossed for us!

Oh, Carrie, I am so sorry! Feel free to vent anytime you need to!
Here's some positive {{{{VIBES}}}} that everything works out for the best and it's all in by June 4!

Carrie,
I am so sorry, too! I am sending some pixie dust your way! For a place as magical as Disney, surely some of that magic can start coming your way early. I just know that it will work out. Life cannot be that cruel with all of the planning that you've done.
I just have to say, how bizarre! I have never heard of such a thing. I hope that you escalate this to a higher person. They need to know that their security is certainly lacking if someone else gets CASH, without showing any kind of I.D. I can't even imagine how this happened. I would seriously consider changing banks.

OMG! Carrie
I'm so sorry to hear this as I also have a PC Credit Card and can't beleive that these neighbours of yours would even sign for something that wasn't even there in the first place. As I'm sure the package had your name on it. Are you telling me that these people forged your name. What does Canada Post do let anyone sign for it as I would think something like this should of had your signature and no one elses. Someone was wrong and you should not have to pay the shipping fees when there was definately a mistake on someones part and they should be covering this. I do hope you get your money soon and that you don't have any more problems
Tina
Thanks so much for your positive thoughts and pixie dust! Not exactly sure as of yet who signed and with what name. I filed a police report as I figured it would e faster than waiting for Canada Post to get answers and it stops me from heading to the home to try and handle it myself. The officer said tonight that it may have been a teenager in the household that signed but either way, identifaction should have been used.
So now I sit and wait to hear from the officer tomorrow, hopefully with good news. I did tell the bank that I feel this is their fight to ight and that if they do not have the money in my hands by Friday i will contact every media outlest possible to tell my story! Hopefully that threat will move things along, however unlikely. I am sure it will all work out. The positive side here......my coworkers when they heard put together enough money for me to make the deposit to secure my reservation! So Disney is still on and that was my main worry! Thanks again, will let you know how it poans out!
Carrie
That is one of the sweetest things I've heard of people doing for each other (and I've seen a lot these past 9 months since Katrina).
I am so happy that this is working out for you!!!
Good for you for filing a police report in the case. I hope you hear some justice done soon.

PC Financial sent CASH? in the MAIL?? are they completely crazy!! and if "someone" had to sign for it don't you think that should have been the person who the account belonged to!!
I have occasionally considered moving over to them (we bank with Scotiabank) but now I definitely will not.
I truly hope this all gets straightened out in time for your payment deadline.
Hugs

Well I do hope that the police find out what happened as I do hope all will be settled for you and that was very nice of your co-workers. As you have some really nice people you must be working for as I do hope all else will go smoothly for you with your Disney trip. Also please do keep us posted as to what happens

Well apparently PC had sent the money to American Express and left it in their hands to send it to me. Still, the cash thing has me puzzled as I have never heard of such a crazy thing! Good news though. The person that signed for the envelope was the grandmother who was housesitting for her son and the envelope hadn't even been opened. The police had to forward the money back to American express for their records and they were instructed to send the money to CIBC which is the sister bank for PC and I can pick it up by Thursday at the latest in any form I wish. WHEW! Disney truly is magical! Thanks so much everyone, you guys helped keep me upbeat the past few days!
Carrie
Whew!! What great news!!
