Planning a trip w/ quadruplets

Hi all. I have never posted here but I figure what better place to ask questions about planning a DW vacation? Anyway dh and I are planning on taking our quads to DW in April or March of 09 when he gets back from deployment. They will be 2.5 years old and even though they may not remember alot at least it will be free for them to get into most things and we'll take them back when they are older anyhow.

So just a few questions to start and I know I'll have more down the road.
1. Dh and I just purchased a timeshare so we are going to use those point to getting a room. When it comes to best resort w/ child friendly activites which are they?
2. Will the weather in March or April be appropriate for us?
3. Even though we won't be staying at a hotel w/ the character breakfast will we still be able to go into the hotel for breakfast?

More questions to come I'm sure,
Carly

From reading your post, it appears to me that you think there is some time of supervised toddler activities within the park where you and your DH can go off on your own. No there is not. Or you can hire a sitter for a couple hours while you go ride rides. I know there is some sitting services in the area, but you would probably need 2 sitters with quads, and their services would not come cheap. I really feel you should bring your mother along so she can go with you to the parks. While you and your DH ride rides she can take the quads to a toddler play area/water fountain area, etc. Bring 2 cell phones, one for you and DH and one for your mother so you can call and meet up/check in, etc. I think some of those long range walkie talkies may work to. I use our cell phones but we are local.

Shades of Green is a great military resort and it sleeps 5. There are also family suites that sleep more and have full kitchens, but there are only a few and they book up fast. They also sometimes have post-deployment packages. Check out http://wwww.shadesofgreen.org. Prices are based on your DH pay grade. I am active duty and that is our hotel of choice. It's right next to the poly.

I would try to hit 1 park per day, and MK 2 days.

If it were me, I would be paying my mother's travel expense just to have the security of someone I trust to help me with the quads. I would plan for everyone to go out in the morning and then head back in the afternoon to the hotel, then you and DH can go back out on your own while mom watches the little ones and put them to bed.

I think a standard room at Shades of Green would work for you. You and DH in one bed, your mother on the pull out single sofa, then put the bed rails on all 3 sides of the other queen bed for the quads. Or possibly use pack-n-play or hotel cribs. Unless you and your DH are looking for the extra privacy. ;-)

Hi again Carly,
I second what the OP said about touring the parks early in the morning all together, then coming 'home' to your hotel room for a break, then you and DH going out in the evenings whie your mom puts the little ones to bed and gets her rest, too...what a blessing to have her it would be! I can totally see things working great that way...everyone will be happy and rested AND you and DH will have plenty of time for all the rides the little ones can't go on WITHOUT having to hassle with "child swaps" in the morning! Why didn't I think of that?? :)

Also, I'm not military but have known people that say great things about Shades of Green. If your time share plan doesn't work out (as it sounds it may not) I would really look into that!

Totally OT but I'm curious: How do you manage qith the quads now at home that your DH is employed? Is your mom nearby? Do you have other help? You must be exhausted! And pregnant! How old will the quads be when your baby is born?

Yeah it would be nice if my mom would go I'll ask her again and see.

As for the timeshare if we have to stay off site that's okay we'll just take the kids to the character breakfast and still have fun. With all of us we'll use the timeshare and save money instead of having to pay for a room elsewhere.

Well dh isn't deployed yet he leaves in mid October. My g.ma is here w/ me now and my mom is going to come stay a while when the baby is born but she still has to work ( CFO ) so she'll have to go back. While dh is deployed I plan on sending the girls to daycare on post part time just so I can have my me time and do what needs to be done around the house. LOL this baby is due Oct 30th and the girls' birthday is Oct 1st so they'll be about 13 months apart if that, since dh is leaving in mid Oct we're debating about a c-section or just waiting and him not being here for the birth.
