My Dh and I are taking our kids 11,9,6,2 in 2008, to WDL for a 8 day trip there and back. I want to start the prep and excitement building with the kids......Also, I've only been once in '92 with a very large group of annoyed teens, so I'm absloutely green. I need to know what attractions, places to stay for a family of 6, we might bring grandma too. Our budget will only be $6-7k and that has to include everything including transportation(from central WA-driving possible), food, and lodging as well as tkts. We have to have a meal at the Medievil place (sorry i can't remember the name)since DH has friends in the SCA and they wouldn't let us live the trip down without it :)

Any ideas?

I love love love this board, it sure is going to be a MAJOR help!!!
Thanks in advance,
Nellie

Welcome Nellie! It's never too soon to start planning! I'm planning for May/June 2007 (have been for awhile, lol) and I know there is at least one person waiting on 2008, but I couldn't say just who it is off the top of my head.

The first thing I usually look at is where to stay. On Disney property (onsite around here) or off? There are pros and cons to both, you just have to decide what works best for you. You can get a rough idea of onsite pricing at Disney's website; those prices will be for this year only, 2007 room rates are out but not ticket prices or packages. It will give you a good ballpark to start planning with though. With a group of 6, you could do 2 rooms at a value resort, a suite at All Star Music value resort (the only one with suites right now, and I believe they're just getting ready to open), two rooms at a moderate resort, or a deluxe resort (I'm thinking some of them have rooms for 6 but I could be mistaken), or a cabin at Ft. Wilderness.

With the new Magic Your Way tickets, it does get cheaper the more ticket days you buy, so that's a plus.

Allearsnet (dotcom) is a great source of information, there isn't much on WDW you can't find there, I encourage you to look around that site when you have the time. And stick around here, we'd love to have you, and the ladies here are so knowledgeable. We love Disney and we love to talk about it, so ask away!

It's never too soon to plan a Disney trip! Sorry I can't help you with any details for DL though...I've only been once, and that was on a band trip in 1983! We're WDW folks...so if you ever come east, I'd be happy to share my tips with you!

Have fun planning!

No problem, but all that advice was for WDW in FL, oops! Sorry!

We would love to have you stick around though!

I thought you meanted DL but the WDL threw me off lol

I've been to DL so I can help a bit and we are planning a trip back in Jan 2008. We have a family of 6 going this time and I've found it a bit challenging to find hotels that have rooms for 6. If you want 2 rooms than you can stay just about anywhere but if you want to be in one room like us than that narrows the options alot.

There is a house you can rent close to DL that is 950.00 a week off season and I think 1050.00 a week high season. Or if you want a hotel we found this site that lists hotel options and included in the package is 2 adult 3 day passes to DL and you can add the extra days, kids tickets etc. but it's a good price they offer.

This is the link to the hotel package site http://www.getawaytoday.com/Default.aspx Just be sure to look where it says maximum occupency. There are some that say 6.

This is the link to the vacation houses http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/california/orange-county#5224

What we plan to do is drive there or take the train from Seattle since it is so cheap ! only 803.00 for return for all 6 of us !

This is a link that has a map of where every hotel is next to Disneyland.
http://www.geocities.com/ashpsyche/DisneylandLinkMap.html If you look by Ihop you will see 2 yellow lines. That is the cross walk that leads to DL.

So that tells you how close you would be.

Here's another one that seems to be good on prices for hotels

http://www.kingdommagictravel.com/disneyland/hotels/anaheim_hotels.htm

This hotel seems to be the cheapest but I haven't stayed there

http://www.parksidehotels.com/HotelDisplay.asp?hotelId=10

We may stay there when we go we just haven't decided yet. Still paying with options lol

I think I will stop here because I Don't want to overwhelm you with sites lol If you have any other questions that I might be able to help with let me know.

Cathy
