Problems with ADR's?

A friend of a friend was at Disney over President's Day. It was packed the whole week because of the Daytona 500. She says she walked out on 3 ADR's because the wait just to tell the hostess that you had an ADR was 35 minutes. My friend is going over Memorial Day and worried about that happening. Ever heard of that problem?

I've heard of it happening but never experienced it. Part of the problem is people don't make ADRs, then they get upset with the host/hostess when they can't get a table as a walkup, and they think if they stand there and argue, they will get in. I don't know how to avoid that.
That's certainly not all of it though. Even if you have an ADR, there will still be wait for a table, it's not a guaranteed reservation time; you get the next available table for your party size.
We're going over Memorial Day too, and I hadn't even thought of this. I'm expecting a lot of crowds, but hopefully, our ADRs are at good times. A lot of them are before the parks open, so it shouldn't be an issue with those; people without ADRs won't be able to get in the parks before regular opening time.
