Rain?!

I am super OCD about planning my trips but of course the one thing you cant plan or control is the weather! I have been keeping an eye on the 10 day forcast for a while and the rain keeps getting pushed further and further out. Right now its set to rain 5 days straight until the day before our trip UGH. I am the type that would want to forge ahead regardless but w/ the baby it might not be so simple this time. Also I can picture my DH being a total jerk about it. I hope it turns out to be at least mostly clear!!

I'd say not to stress about the weather until you're about 3 days out. The weather forecast will change by then. :)

As for rain, we always take ponchos and a stroller cover and umbrellas. (Although, if we stop taking a stroller, I'm not sure where we'd carry all that stuff!) So, if it rains, we put on our ponchos and the stroller cover. And if it's raining hard, we use umbrellas, too (so it's not pounding on our heads). Your feet WILL get wet. But other people are wimps, so lines go way down. We just power on and enjoy ourselves!

I recommend ponchos at the very least. Dollar stores carry them if you want cheap options. DH and I have Disney ones, purchased on our first trip (Sept. 2001) - because we didn't know we'd need them ahead so bought them out of necessity. They've been worth the money after all these years.

My husband is the exact opposite when it comes to the rain...he will trudge it through. We've been through different types of rain at WDW, so I'll share our rain survival guide.

We've been through the daily afternoon summer showers. Don a poncho and move on. We've been through DOWNPOURS (heads up--Epcot floods quick!!)...our Dec '02 trip was downpours every day of our trip...the day we left...Florida sunshine, go figure! Last July 3 and 4...it was a constant drizzle from late morning through the evening.

We all wear baseball caps...this keeps the rain out of your eyes. Mike doesn't mind getting wet (wears lighter clothes so they dry quickly), and prefers to just get wet than wear a hot poncho. Aly and I wear waterproof windbreakers. Aly's doesn't have a hood, and it's a Disney parks one that folds into its own bag for easy throw it in the bag when we're done. I have one with a hood and I just tie it around my waist or fold it to put in bag. Neither are heavy. I do carry 3 ponchos with us. SHOES--I always pack an extra pair of shoes in the car for each of us (we drive down) and keep a pair of socks in them (unless the extra for Aly is flip-flops). I hate wet socks and shoes. We also drive ourselves around to the parks, so they are not too far away. Aly likes an umbrella--I don't like umbrellas in the parks, but we do carry one small one. She, with her oblivious self, was navigating through AK on July 4 with an umbrella...I was a nervous wreck. She did okay, though.

Cameras and stuff. When I was pregnant, I must have gotten 7 or 8 small diaper bags for my shower, and I couldn't return all of them. There was one cute Winnie-the-Pooh bag that we kept our cameras in (instead of buying a video camera bag) before we really did vacations. When we went on one vacation, we needed to move rooms, and one of the hotel employees was helping us, and grabbed the camera bag and said, "I have the diaper bag"...I thought right then and there...what a great idea. So when we finally needed to buy a new bag, instead of spending $30 or more on a camera bag, I went to the diaper bag section. There was a pretty navy and beige plaid Kolcraft, I think, that was the perfect size for like $12. It is insulated with the silver lining.

In Dec 2002, I thought we lost everything one night in the downpours. We had the still camera (before digital), the video camera, our cell phones, and all the camera accessories in this bag and it was SOAKED!!! But it was zipped up. Do you know there was not a drop of water inside the bag??? I still have the bag for the video camera we don't use anymore (use a smaller pouch for the camera, which is digital and has video).

So even if it does rain, you'll still have a great time. I hope it doesn't rain at all, though!!!
