Riding in the front of the monorail....
| Wed, 10-11-2006 - 2:04pm |
In all of our trips, we've never been lucky enough to do this. Any tips for getting the chance to ride up front?
Marcy

Ask a Cast member on the platform and be willing to wait a few trains if need be. The Epcot line used to have a purple bench so you knew right away if someone was waiting but I don't remember seeing it in August (doesn't mean it's not there, I just didn't pay any attention) .
The front of the monorail car only seats 4.
Be sure to ask the driver if they have any of the monorail drivers liscences. The last few times we've done it they've been out. :-(

ask every time you're waiting for the monorail.
and if you are staying at a monorail hotel, if you are up early enough, you might luck out.
That was my 4 year olds main goal for this last trip. We did it last year. We stayed at the Contemporary and rode that thing all hours of the day and never got lucky. Other thing that stinks is it seats 4...babies count as 1, so we would have had to split up anyways. Maybe next time.
Good luck getting on!

I'm not sure when you're going, but in the slower seasons, we've been able to ride in the front multiple times (in fact, once we were given the go-ahead and the family behind us wanted to as well, so we just let them go and we rode on the train because we had already done it on that trip). The most important thing to do is to ASK!!
On our last trip (which wasn't summer busy, but was definitely not the "off-season"), our last night there, we closed MK and came out with the masses. The trains were delayed so we waited a good 20-30 minutes on the ramp going up. By the time we got to the top and were going to be on the train after the one pulling in, I was close to one of the attendants (we were wall-to-wall people and there were already people on the platform waiting for the train coming in...our train wasn't even in sight yet, we were still on the ramp), so I asked him. With THAT many people, we were still able to get to ride up front (I only had to tell him who my favorite mouse was...lol).
So, ASK!!! And be willing to wait a few trains.
