I know this is just a silly question but when I was talking to DH last night about some of our plans he said, "well, when do you suppose we get any sleep?"
I hadn't really thought of that but he is right. My kids get a bit cranky if they don't get their sleep. The 7 and 5 year old get about 10-11 hours of sleep every night, the 11 and 15 year old get about 9 or so. That just seems impossible in Disney with Extra magic evening hours then 9:00 am openings.
Does everyone just have too much adrenaline running through them to want to sleep a full night's rest?
I figured we could just sleep once we get home :)

We haven't actually been to Disney yet but we are NOT planning on burning the candle at both ends. For us, that would just make for miserable overtired kids. Our kids sleep 8:30 or 9 to 6 or 6:30 on a regular basis. The older (5.5) doesn't nap, the younger (2.5) naps 2 hours in the afternoon. They both sleep less than most kids their ages and if anything, they're going to sleep less soundly in a strange place. We were in a hotel a month ago and they were both up for the day at 5:30am and the little one was up a few times during the night.
We plan on coming back to the hotel every afternoon so that the younger one can get a decent nap in a regular bed. The big one can just relax on the balcony or go for a swim. Without a decent nap, the little one is going to be miserable and napping in a stroller is not an option, no way no how. Even if they stay up late, they will not sleep in - this I know from experience. So for us, no fireworks, no late nights, back to the hotel for 7:30 baths and a regular 8:30pm bedtime.

This bothered me more when DH and I went without the kids in Feb that it has on our trips with the kids.
We tend to get to bed as soon as we can at the end of the day; if we stay for the fireworks sometimes it's 11 or so before we get to bed. My kids normally go to bed at 8:00 at night, so they aren't used to being up late at all. I let them sleep in as long as I can, but we do a lot of early character breakfasts, and if not a breakfast, we're at the park at opening anyway. I usually have them up at WDW by 7:00, which is normal for them.
We stay at the park until lunch, then go back to the room for a nap, and back to the park around 4:00 or so. I think that helps them (and us, lol) alot.
We were in the World Feb 25-Mar 4 of this year.
Here's my 2 cents.
The sound machine is a great idea! We used to run a small fan in ds's room when he was younger and it really helped him rest well. I like a little white noise when I sleep too.
I am going to put that on my list. Which, at this rate, is going to be 5 pages long by the time we leave!
No such thing as a silly question! :)
