Surprises to take for the kids?
| Sat, 04-07-2007 - 6:48pm |
I've been trying to think of some small-ish things to buy here for the kids and take with us to surprise them with. We aren't too big on buying souveniers, but they will each have $40 to spend this trip; when it's gone, it's gone.
I was thinking a pair of Disney-themed pj's, a Disney-themed beach towel, and goggles (just because they won't swim without them and I can't find the ones from last year).
Any other ideas? I thought about t-shirts, but I can't seemed to find any to fit the 6-yo, he wears the regular boys sizes instead of little kids. I don't know if I'll get to the Disney store before then or not, and I really wouldn't know what character he'd want.
Thanks!

At the Disney store
I always liked to pick up some glow sticks/necklaces at the Dollar Tree before we left. They soak you for those in the parks, and the kids were always just as happy with the dollar store ones! I also picked up the light chaser things at the Disney Store. They were a good $5 cheaper (or even more) than in the parks, and my kids always wanted those things at the parades and fireworks. We still have the Buzz Lightyear ones I got them a few years ago!
Check the Dollar Tree and Target's Dollar Spot for Disney stuff. Sometimes they have stuff (if you're lucky!!)

Thanks guys! I'd love to hit the Disney Store before we go, but it's an hour away and I don't know if I'll get to. I may have an orthodontist appt again before the trip, I can't remember. If I do, that's my chance!
I was going to go back to Dollar General, they had some of those light up toys with the light inside the ball type thing, and they were only $2-5, something like that. Much cheaper than at WDW!
I really like the Disney themed pjs, towels and goggles idea. These are things I always pack for our trips and having Disney themed ones makes it more fun I think. Plus they are all things that will definately get used again when home whereas all the little toy things get lost, broken, or forgotten. We still use Disney beach towels that we got for out 2004 trip and my youngest dd got a High School Musical beach towel in her Easter basket which I am thinking will come with us next summer to Disney.
I will say that I do pick up the glow necklaces, braclets etc because they are way cheaper here than at disney!

If they wear Crocs, or the knock-offs like my kiddos do, they have Disney Jibbitz. They sell them at Hallmark stores and at Crocs kiosks at a mall, and online, of course. The regular ones are $2.50 and the Disney ones are $3.50 - very cute, too.
Also, our WalMart sells little Disney stuffed animals - about beanie baby sized. They aren't Disney trademark, but they are very cute and fit the bill.
Thanks for the tip on the glow necklaces and bracelets and glow sticks - I will pick some of those up for us, too.
I love this board!!

Haven't read the others, but I've always liked to buy Aly a magic towel from TDS.

I too live an hour from the closest Disney Store :) I had to take my 5 yr old for his immunizations yesterday though. So, as a reward for him, we went to the mall and just happened to pop in the Disney Store, lol. They have t-shirts on sale for 6.99. I had been toying with ordering them a personalized one, but this was much cheaper. Oldest DS picked out a Power Rangers one and youngest picked out an Incredibles one (though he would have much rather had a toy, lol). If you don't have a chance to get there, look at Disney shopping online. They will often have the same sales and every now and then have a deal on shipping too.

I left surprises out for the kids every afternoon after their mid day swim when we were in Disneyland last Halloween.
