The title says it all! I can't decide what we want to do more.....Since I am of course restricted due to my work schedule, we can't travel during any other time. Which time is better and why do you feel this way? :) Of course since it is a shorter trip we will be flying which in itself will be an experience.......

Well, since we're leaving next week for our trip, you can probably guess what I'd recommend.

Natalie,

Have you ever been at Christmas?

I struggled with the same decision (though we haven't taken a trip at EITHER time since I've been in a school situation..lol), but I have already been 4 times in early December. So, I have seen it decorated for Christmas, so personally our next "holiday" trip will probably be at Thanksgiving which is a little LESS crowded (it's still holidays either way). I would not even consider between Christmas & New Year's unless there is a very specific reason to go at that time. But I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Disney decorated for Christmas--so if you've never been at Christmas (or in December), GO then!

Another decision is which will be less havoc for your holiday plans. If you go at Christmas (just before) and have to rush home to celebrate with the family, would it be better then to do it at Thanksgiving?

I haven't been at either time of the year. I read somewhere, I think Val's trip report??? that they are decorated for Christmas around Thanksgiving. It seems like "maybe" there would be a chance of a MVMCP as well. I won't count on it but hey I can see the Osborne lights as well..........I thought maybe Thanksgiving would be the best of both worlds due to it being decorated but not AS crowded as Christmas...............

Does that make sense???

I completely agree with you.

However, this was the first year that the MVMCP was this early (hopefully, it will happen again), also, it's also the first year that I know of that so much was decorated so early. Even the Osborne lights used to not open until the day after Thanksgiving. It had always been a BIG deal that when they shut down the parks Thanksgiving night, the crews would go in and decorate so the next morning, it was completely decorated. Maybe that has changed for good.

BOTH! I cannot and will not decide, so it's both, I say!

OK, Thanksgiving, IF I can only pick one. Get there a couple days before the crowds to.
Someone my DH works with went down last Thursday (Thanksgiving Day) for his family's first trip with nothing but a hotel reservation. Hmmm.....wonder how that went? Guess we'll find out soon, they were due back late tonight.

Well, in that case, probably the Thanksgiving week unless Christmas vacation starts REALLY early...lol.

We are looking at going for Thanksgiving 2007. So it was nice to see some comments about this time of year. Now our trip dates totally depend on when they are doing MVMCP. If they do it early again next year then we will go the Thursday or Friday before Thanksgiving and then leave the Saturday after. If they are not starting the party early next year we will be going the first week of December to see everything and do the party.

Now to figure out staying onsite or at our time share. We have a bit of time to decide.
