Tips for Packing?

I was just reading this article called How to Pack Anything over at realsimple.com (http://www.realsimple.com/work-life/travel/pack-like-professional-10000001718647/index.html), and picked up some pretty cool packing tips for our next trip. I seriously am the *worst* packer ever. They had a tip to keep necklaces kink-free by packing them in a drinking straw!

What's your best packing tip?

Zip lock bags!!!

Kids clothes (including socks, hair ties, undies, etc) fit into gallon sized bags. I write their name and date(s) on them (ANd if I am reusing an outfit, I write a simple description on them so I know where it goes when I do laundry).

If you are potty training a child, or want an extra outfit on hand, these are wonderful in the parks, too. You have an "Emergency" outfit on hand AND have a place to put the soiled clothing!

Also: In each carry on bag I have 1 swim suit, 1 complete change of clothes and 1 extra set of under pants (Everyone always has their own carry on bag!) Since it is 2- one gallon bags AT MOST, it does not take up too much room, and you are all set to enjoy the pool upon arrival if your room is ready. You are also prepared in case a bag decides to go on its own vacation without you!

I also cross pollinate bags. "My" bag will have only 1-2 of "my" outfits in there, extra shoes, plus my personal stuff that is not in my carry on. It will also contain an outfit for each of my family members, again in case everyone's bag but one goes missing, everyone will have 3 complete outfits, plus a bathing suit and an extra pair of undies, each bag increases the outfit count by at least 1, so at worst you will only have 1 pair of shoes.

Elena mentioned some of my favorites!

I don't go anywhere without different sized Zip Lock baggies.
