I was reading a post below about water parks and we've never been to TL the last time we were at Disney in was being refurb...anyway from what I'm reading in November TL is what will be open on our trip. My question is Do you really get to swim with sharks and fish????Is this something you pay extra for and book ahead of time? I was so excited when I heard someone mention this in another post. I would love more info about it!

TIA

Yes, you really do get to swim with sharks and other tropical fish. Its this big pool I guess you'd call it, the decor is kinda neat, looks like a sunken ship and there is a coral reef/island. The sharks and the fish are swimming all around. When you enter the line they give you a diving mask and snorkel and then they tell you all the rules, like no treading water, no kicking your feet, no touching the fish. There is a launching area where you get used to the water (which is quite cold) and your snorkel and then you just lay into the water and go across the area. the fish are swimming all around you and people can go down into the "sunken ship" and watch you too. Its really neat. There is no additional cost unless you want to use an oxygen tank and that costs you $20. You dont have to book ahead its just part of the park gotta stand in line just like everyone else.

The sharks arent big at all. And there are some "Dory" (from Finding Nemo) types of fish, its really neat. I'm taking my film to get developed now, when I get it back I'll try to post some pics of my girls doing it so you can get a better idea.

We did this on our honeymoon in 1995. It's really cool.

The sharks are nurse sharks..the types of sharks they let you pet at aquariums, so it's not like swimming/snorkeling with the big sharks that you see in the Living Seas tank. But it's still an awesome experience.

You're not allowed to KICK, you have to move with your arms and keep your face underwater the entire time. I had trouble keeping my face under, and when you come up, your legs go down. I ending up having to adopt a very unusual "breathing" style to keep my face under....I had to quickly breathe in & out the rest of the way. Mike had no trouble at all...it was just me. Maybe I just didn't get enough air before I went in.

It could be too cold to do this in November, though. Usually it stays pretty warm (too cold for ME, but I'm from the south), but in 2000, there were nights in which it froze in November.
