Tons of ?'s about baggage allowances!

I'm leaving Friday and I'm already overwhelmed trying to get everything together. Trying to understand the baggage allowances for AA are only making it worse. Maybe someone here can help me! It says you can bring an umbrella stroller. Our stroller isn't really an umbrella stroller. It's a combi lightweight stroller. It's only 14lbs and it folds up easily and compact. Can I bring it? And the carseat can be checked in too even if we didn't buy the baby a seat right? I'll need it while we are at my sister's house. Also, how the heck am I supposed to know how much my luggage weighs? Also, doesn't any liquid, clippers, etc. have to go into checked baggage? I have some of that stuff in the diaper bag but guessing I will have to take it out. And will they have milk on the plane (My one year old likes milk a lot)? AA says you can have 2 checked bags plus one carry-on and one personal bag per person. Do the stroller and carseat fall under those 2 checked baggages?
Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated,
Christy

I'll try to help, we fly a lot and just flew a few times with our 17 month old.

Yes

Yes

It's usually fine, they will tell you if it's overweight and you can rearrange stuff.
Not sure if I can answer all your questions, but yes, you get 2 checked bags per ticket bought. If it is you and your dh and a lap child, that means 4 checked items. And yes, that includes your carseat and stroller. I've never heard of an umbrella stroller requirement, that's silly. A stroller can be checked at the gate with no problem. Bags have a weight limit, usually 50 lbs or you have to pay a fee. I have a digital scale in my bathroom I use to check it. A personal item is a purse or diaper bag or briefcase that fits under the seat. A carry-on can be a larger item that will fit in the overhead such as a duffel bag or pull-on small suitcase.
All sharps and liquids must be in checked baggage. If you have any liquids they must be in 3oz containers or smaller and placed in a quart size ziploc bag. Please check the airline or airpot website for these specifics as they can get confusing.
As far as the milk.... do not assume they will have it on board. Sometimes they do, and sometimes they have it just for the coffee. I had a toddler once and they wouldn't give me a cup of milk because they needed it for coffee. If I were you, once you get thru security, I would purchase an adult size serving of milk or two near the gate. Then you are sure to have it for your little one.
Hope that helps some.

Thank you so much for the advice! I think I will buy milk at the airport. I didn't know you could do that. I haven't been in an airplane since I was 12 so I'm a little out-of-date! I am so glad you guys are here!!!! Now, if I could ever finish packing and cleaning my house (we have someone coming to house sit). I'm sure I'll have more questions soon!

thank you for posting these Qs! i am going next week w/ a 2.5 yo who guzzles milk like no tomorrow, and an 8mo old, so i have been wondering too re the liquid/milk/bottle allowances. i don't know what to do for the baby.. can i bring bottled water on w/ me and powdered formula to make a bottle on the plane? or will they give me water on the plane?
we have purhcased seats for me, dh and the 2.5yo. so that means we can have 6 checked bags and 3 carry-ons??

When I traveled last month, I did bring two baby bottles on board each 7 oz. According to the TSA you can bring as much formula as the baby will need for travel. I wanted to have more than enough and she did drink one bottle in the airport and one on the plane so thank God I brought the two. I also brought 2 cans of her formula in my carry on because she is on special hypoallergenic formula which costs $37 a can and you can't just go and buy at the store. So God forbid they lost my luggage, we'd have been in trouble. I even called the TSA to make sure that was ok and there is no restriction (or at least there wasn't 3 weeks ago) on powder. I don't think you can bring the bottled water though unless it's bought inside the security area. So either mix the bottles before hand or just bring the powder and bottles and mix them on the plane. I might buy the water in one of the stores inside the security area if I was worried. They always have bottled water on planes though. Just not sure how big the bottles are and whether they'll give you 2 or 3 of them if needed.
As far as your luggage, yeah you could bring that much. Would you want to? I don't know?
Sounds like a lot.
