Too late to plan a May 2007 trip??

Just a little background...I am dying to take my son to Disney World for the first time. He is 6.5yrs old and I think he would have a blast! I have not been in about 18 years and my husband has never been, although he does not like theme parks at all. However, he agrees that we need to take our so to Disney World. I am a Nursing student and I homeschool my son, so we are limited to my school schedule. I refuse to go when it is 100 degrees and so humid you can't breathe. However, I want it to be warm enough to swim. I want to enjoy my trip because I won't be going back for a while (like 5-6 yrs maybe!) My classes end on May 8th so I can go any time after that. We want to stay for 5-6 nights and will be driving from Northern Kentucky. So I have to decide if I want to try to go this May, go in October during my fall break, or wait till next May (UGH! I have been wanting to go for 2 yrs!) My husband wants to swim and will only swim when it is about 78-80 degrees. Will it be that warm in May? How about October (middle)?

We will not be doing the dining plan and most likely will not be eating any Table Service meals unless I decided to book one and got real lucky, LOL! We plan to eat counter service meals and maybe try to eat a table service if possible, but we are both on low calorie diets so the meal plan is WAY more food than we WANT (although I could eat it!). Counter service seems the way to go for us for many reasons.

So we would only need room reservations and we don't want anything special (no preferred). I just want to stay at POP or Movies. My husband is an IBM employee and they are having a Disney ticket sale until March 13th. We can get excellent deals on 4 or 5 day hoppers (saving about $150 for our 3 tickets!) We can also get hoppers with Water park fun and more for a great price if we decide we want to try them.

Do you think we would have a hard time getting a reservation at Pop or Movies? Which month is better as far as crowds and weather, keeping in mind we don't like to swim in just 70 degree weather. Needs to be at least mid 70's!

About the discount tickets....How does the expiration work? Is it 14 days after you start using them? Say we hit a park on the 13 of May (Yeah Mothers day! I know) in the afternoon, our tickets expire on the 27th or so? Is that how it works? So you can buy tickets now and use them next year?

Thanks so much. I would be so lost without this board! I have been lurking for 2 years!

Why don't you just call Disney and see what their availability is?

When I was in the are we or aren't we phase, I went to Disney's site several times & put in info to see what availability was.

We went in May a couple of years ago, and the temps were in the mid-80's during the day, and it cooled off nicely at night (we needed sweatshirts at night). The weather was really nice! We're going in May this year (12-19) and staying at POP.

We've been in October a few times and the end of September once, and it was HOT.

I agree with the other posters to call Disney and see what availability is like. Check out any of the AllStars and Pop.

Good luck, and let us know if you end up going!

I definitely don't think it's too late to plan.
