Unescorted Kids Under 14 Banned from Disney Parks
Thu, 03-21-2013 - 10:11am

This Saturday, a new policy will be put into effect at all Disney Parks.  Unescorted kids under the age of 14 will no longer be allowed into the parks.

For me, this doesn't present a problem since if we go, that means adults will be there too since it's a 12 hour drive.  I know that for kids who live near a Disney park, they probably do attend without an adult at times.

What do you think about this new age restriction?

I think in principal it is a good thing.   It would keep kids safer and possibly (hopefully) reduce issues with unsupervised kids acting badly.

However, people who want to get around it will.    Adults could enter the park with the under 14s and then leave.    Or come in together and split up.

So I like the idea - for everyone's sake - but think the type of people that would be an issue now could still be an issue.

I think it is a good rule, especially after the recent pool tragedy at POP, although tbh I do not know if the parents were present in that situation. I know may kiddos are little and never say never but I honestly wouldn't see myself allowing my 12 or 13 year old alone in the parks. Even if we were local, I just can't imagine dropping my 13 year old off at the TTC and trusting them in such a vast place as WDW...too many options, too many things they could decide to 'try', even for the most sensible teen.
