renting a fridge at disney... we just bought a car plug-in cooler at Walmart for $69.99... it has an adapter plug that came with it that you can plug it into the wall too, so now we don't need to rent a fridge at our hotel. we could buy 2 coolers for what it would have cost for the fridge rental (we're staying 12 days), and now we don't have to worry about ice on the way down and back or freezing those ice packs (we're driving from NY)... this cooler also has a "warm" mode, i guess if you were going to bring a hot dish to a party or something, you could use it for that. sorry if everyone already knows about this, but i didn't and think it's awesome! you can also lay it down like a chest cooler, or stand it up like a little fridge. so we can use it in the hotel on the way down too. we didn't want to have to eat rest-stop food, so this is perfect for us!

hth someone! Liz :)

great idea we are driving down next april. two vans LOL 10 of us so far. we wouldn't need it at our hotel we stay offsite at tropical palms but the ride down and even for grocery store trips sounds good. Is it better than a cooler and does it plug into a cigarette lighter connection? thanks littlebitt

yes, it plugs into the cig lighter thingie, and i think it's better than a cooler mainly because it's an evenly distributed "cold" inside (like a fridge), so for cold cuts, etc, you don't have to worry about them being next to the ice pack. we plugged it into the house outlet with the adapter to try it, and it made the room-temp bottle of water i put in very cold in a few hours (again, just like a fridge). we also tested it in the car (the car has to be on for it to work), and it worked great! if you weren't going to rent a fridge anyway, i don't know if you'll "need" it, but it is really nice even for home use (parties, extra fridge room if you need it occasionally, etc)... and with the "warm" mode, even more uses at home (keeping stuff warm for big dinners, parties)... oh, it has a little shelf that you can use in different positions (not a big deal, but nice to have). anything to make our trip easier and convenient!
