Warning to airline travelers...

Well, my well-planned WDW trip was almost ruined today... Back in January when we first booked our July WDW trip, I began looking for low airfares, the best flight times, etc. I finally decided on one (Am I allowed to mention the airline on here?) because of the perfect timing of the flights. We'd arrive early in the day, leave around dinner time, and felt like we were going to get the most out of the first and last days of our vacation. So I paid for the flights and was relieved to not have to worry about that part of the trip.
Fast forward to today, months later. I happened to be off of work and decided I would call to inquire about seat assignments. It wasn't a big deal and I figured if I didn't do it today, I could call anytime in the next few months until we leave. Well, I was on hold forever, and decided to try their website instead. I put in our confirmation code, and much to my surprise and fury, they had changed our flight times completely!!!! No one had bothered to call, e-mail, or send a letter to us to let us know!!!
They had us re-scheduled to arrive much later in the day than we had planned, and leaving hours earlier than we had wanted. To make matters worse, they had cancelled many of their flights and our options were extremely limited! After hours on the phone, we were able to cancel with a full refund...and rebook with another airline.
I'm relieved I found out about this early enough that it wasn't more than a huge headache....but wanted to remind everyone to confirm and reconfirm their flight times, especially if it's important to you to be there/ leave at a certain time of day!

What airline? when we book our Disney Vacation we are going to use a travel agent and book directly through Disney. We plan on going in October this year. My neice had a huge problem this past March. Remember the big storm on the East coast on St. Patricks Day weekend? Well, she and her boyfriend had a flight booked through his work, it was partly a microsoft convention in San Diego,Ca. Well, they were never told that their flight was cancled until they got to the airport and had already turned in their rental car. They were supposed to fly home on Friday evening 10:00pm from San Diego to Newark Nj. They couldn't get a flight home until TUESDAY afternoon at 5pm! so they didn't get home until after midnight that evening.
I hope we don't have any problems, we are taking our 9 year old grandson. Last time we went to Disney was in 2002 and our flight was delayed going home because the airplane we were supposed to fly home on developed problems, they couldn't fix it intime, so we couldn't fly out until 1:30 AM. ARRGH! We got home at almost 4am in the morning!
I've had this happen on two separate airlines. They are supposed to alert you of any changes. It doesn't always happen and usually they will work with you on it. The worst was when they changed our flights on a surprise trip where making a certain layover was crucial.
I wish I could say this airline or that airline never do
We had this happen on our last trip. I called the airlines and they changed our flights for us for free because they were the ones that changed the flights..
Sadly, this happened to us as well.
We live about 10 minutes from ABE, but we always fly from Philly. I like flying direct, and I like flying into MCO. We just got back early this morning from our week-long trip to WDW....we flew Air Tran out of PHL. Our first time flying Air Tran...we usually fly Southwest.
They did change our flight times a little bit...but they changed them to our advantage...earlier on the flight out, and later on the flight home. Plus, we arrived at MCO a full half hour earlier than scheduled! Gotta love that!!!

I am a travel agent & hate to say this, but the airlines don't always let us know about changes either.
