Water park ?

Because we got the water park option free when we booked (Yay), I am trying to try to figure out where to put it in our schedule. We are going April 28-May 4. Our boys will be 5 and 2 when we travel and neither can swim yet, so we will likely only spend a few hours there and stick to the toddler/kiddie area. I hate to give up one of the mornings that I have planned at the other parks for a couple of hours at the water park, but have read that the morning is really the best time to go. What would you do? Is there a park that you feel like we could skip in the morning and still get as much accomplished? Or do you think it would be better to go to the water park in the afternoon since we won't be doing any of the slides?
Also, which park is best for little ones? DH and I went to Blizzard Beach on our honeymoon, but I paid no attention to the kiddie area.

TIA :)

We are big water park fans, but we've never yet made it to one in the morning, or at least not early (we are just not morning people LOL!)

Our favourite park is Typhoon Lagoon (my dd loves the big wave action of the lagoon) it has a nice shallower beachy section which would be fun for your smaller kids, plus smaller slides and the floating river thing (both TL and BB have that though)

You could go to a park in the morning and head for a water park at lunchtime, the only thing to bear in mind is the water parks close failry early - depending on the time of year of cousre but closing time was always around 5pm when we were there in September/October.

Thank you! I was leaning toward Typhoon Lagoon myself from the planning video and also becuase I've never been to that one :) Glad to hear that afternoons are OK too. I still don't know where to stick it in the schedule. I am trying not to be commando mom, but it is a struggle, I want to do it all! I think if I added one more day to our trip.... Just kidding, I don't think DH would go for it.

Thanks again,

I've been to both, but pre-kids so not sure where I would go with them.

Thanks. I am still undecided as to what to do. It is nice to hear that BB has a nice kiddie area. I am sure my boys will love which ever one we choose. What time of the day did you go? Was it crowded?

In a perfect world, I totally agree about the morning being best. But, I have my itinerary fixed to visit a park each morning and don't really have a free morning to stick the water park into. We seem to get more accomplished in the mornings before nap time and I hate to give up "park time" for the water park. No doubt, my boys will love it, but they will be thrilled with the hotel pool too :) I might stick it in the morning I planned to go to Epcot and just plan more evenings there. I might just wing it (gasp) when we get down there depeding on how the weather is and how tired the boys are. Normally, I'd stress until I get the situation resolved, but I just started a new job after staying at home for 3 years. So, I have plenty more stuff to stress about right now, kwim.

Thanks for the reply,

Hi Charis. I don't remember where you are staying, but if you are staying at a moderate resort you can get life vests free of charge for the duration of your stay. We took them with us to the water park as well last Summer. Yes, I did ask and they said it was ok. :) Just remember to return it because you will get charged for it. As for time of day I am not sure about what is better. Hopefully you will be going during a not so busy time.

When DH and I were at Pop last month, there was a big bin of live vests by the pool, so I assume they're free there too. A few years ago, you had to put a deposit and you got the vest for your length of stay, and they credited you the deposit when you returned the vest.

I'm having a horrible time trying to decide when to do the waterparks as well. I'm thinking Monday afternoon after an Epcot morning (can't do the morning because I have a hard-won ADR for LeCellier for lunch that I can't change and won't give up, lol), and again on Thursday starting around 10:00 or so. We're mostly interested in the lazy river, wave pool and kiddie area, so I hope we'll be ok. No big slides for us, except *maybe* DH, and if he wants to wait, that's up to him.

Thanks for the info. We are staying at the POP, but it looks like they have them there too (thanks Steph). I hope the boys will wear them. As long as I get one to wear it, the other will probably follow suit :) We went during the same week 8 years ago on our honeymoon and I did not think it was very crowded. However, that was pre FP and we stood in line for a long time for some rides. Of course, if we had done a little research before our trip we may have been able to cut down on the waiting times, LOL.

I was so happy to get the free park hoppers, but the water park option has been giving me fits :) First DH said not to worry about it, but then he decided since it was free... I think he is also interested in checking out Quest, but from what I have read I don't think even my oldest (will turn 5 soon) will be able to do much there. I guess I will attempt to shop with the boys in DTD so he can check it out. It should be interesting since my boys do not really like to shop. I think there is plenty of fun stuff at DT though.

No big slides for us either. I wear contacts/glasses and hate walking around "blind" to be able to participate on slides. I did it prekids, but I didn't have to worry about DH getting lost :) Have you decided which water park you are going to? I was thinking Typhoon Lagoon for us, but am not sure. I have changed my itinerary so many times tyring to squeeze everything in! I really wish we could have one more day :)
