Water park questions....

I'm trying to decide which water park we might want to go to. It will be me, DH (too old for our ages to matter, lol), DS then 6 and DS turning 4. Older DS can swim somewhat, younger cannot, but has no fear of the water. Huge thriller slides don't matter, we won't use them, except maybe DH once or twice. I'm looking mostly for kid areas and things we can all do, lazy river, etc. I'm leaning towards Blizzard Beach, mainly because of the wave pool at TL being so rough from what I've read.

Also, can we go in the kiddie-areas with the boys? I'm not comfortable sending them alone to play in the water. PLEASE add any input you might have!

Thanks!!!

We have been to both with kids under 5. TL wave pool is very intense. Of course my 5 year old loved it. He stayed with his dad in the pool. I am a great swimmer and it knocked the wind out of me. It was not a bad experience, just really suprised me (and we have been to many water parks).

We've been to TL many times and BB only once. My kids are 16, 13, and 4. The time we went to BB was before my youngest was born so I don't know anything about the kiddo section there. I do know the big draw to BB is the tall water rides.

There is a nice kiddo section at TL but that might be too lame for your six year old. When we were just there this past April, my four year old didn't like the kiddie section because of all the water squirting about. He doesn't like to get his face wet! There is a nice quiet raft ride in the kiddie section that my little guy liked. Just be sure that you or your dh is at the bottom because the water is over their heads. The first time my ds went on it, my dh wasn't prepared for ds to jump off the raft. Thank goodness there was a mom in the water and she grabbed our ds from under the water! Dh's! Umph!

The wave pool at TL is pretty intense. We all like it. When I go in with Matthew(4), I stand ankle deep and hold onto him so that he doesn't get knocked down. We have our favorite place to sit at TL where there are little rivers of water that the younger set can play in.

This last trip, we went to the early morning hours at TL and it was wonderful! We had the place to ourselves. Keep in mind, that which ever water park you go to, you need to get there about thirty minutes prior to opening to get in line so that you can grab some chairs and stake out your area!

Have fun and good luck!!

Thanks Josette! I'm a pretty good swimmer, but I weigh less than 100 lbs, so I don't have much stamina with things like that.....also, with two adults and two kids, DH and I will have to take one each probably.

Thanks Laura! I really like all the info, my soon-to-be 6-yo doesn't like to be sprayed either. Something else to think about!!

We just went to both water parks and we all liked Typhoon Lagoon MUCH better. Yes the wave pool is intense but you dont have to go out deep. The "shoreline" is very shallow and the waves are calmer there. My 7 year old liked the kids area alot. And the slides themselves are less intense too. They do have the Crush n Gusher which is like a rollercoaster on water which is more intense. Plus at Typhoon Lagoon you can swim with sharks and other tropical fish. My 7 year old couldnt get the hang of the snorkel though but its really neat.

considering the ages of your kids I'd say TL is a better choice, Blizzard Beach's slides seemed to be more extreme, I didnt really like any of them at all.

Both had the lazy river too which my youngest also loved.
