WDW Annual Passes

Hi All! I have been lurking for a while now and decided to come out and join everyone. We are planning two trips in the next year or so. My husband and I are going the first week of December for our 10th Anniversary and then we are planning a big family trip for the fall of 07. My first question is about buying annual passes. For our first trip we were going to get everything together: the room, tickets, and dining plan. And for our 2nd trip we were hoping to take advantage of the good offer Disney has had for late summer/early fall that includes the free dining plan. But after looking at the annual passes I am thinking that we (DH and I) might be better off to get those instead. My question is how good are the other benefits that come with the passes? Does anyone have any experience with the room discounts that Disney offers? We went last year and had the free dining plan and it was wonderful. I am just wondering if I can beat that deal with any room discounts I might get with annual passes. If anyone has any good knowledge about this I would greatly appreciate it!

First, welcome!

Don't count on free dining for next year. Disney did it last year to introduce the dining plan and absolutely no one thought they would do it again and then wow! there it is this year! But that doesn't mean it will be there next year. They had an awesome package deal in 2003, buy 4 days get 3 free, in 2004 it was buy 5 get 2 free, then that deal was gone in 2005. Typically they have always had *something* in the fall, it was called Fall Fanatsy for the longest time, but there's no garuntee what it will be. It's always best to budget at rack rate and then enjoy any benifits of deals that come out. (or use the *savings* to upgrade! lol)

You can always upgrade your tickets to APs. If you get your package for December with everything, room, tickets, dining plan etc, when you check in you can upgrade your tickets to APs. You can also upgrade your tickets at anytime DURING your trip but not after you leave.

Thank you so much for your help. It gave me some things to think about! Who knew there would be so many decisions to make when planning Disney trips!
