What to do if it rains?

now I know that a forecast 10 days out is a crapshoot so to speak, but as of now it says thunderstorms for next sunday. So if you where at MK and it was going to be a rainy day what would you do? are there certain shows there that are inside? I guess we could always go to DTD for Disney Quest but I'm sure that fills fast on a rainy day!

Take ponchos and continue on your way.

I agree with the other posters! The only time I would bail on a park in the rain is a)if it was making it particularly cold and we weren't appropriately dressed (no sense in getting sick!); or b)there was a lot of lightening (no sense in being unsafe.) But if it's just rain, don't let it ruin your MK experience!

I agree. We went in June 02, and it rained every day, all day long. It was the most miserable trip to WDW we ever took. We were soaked! BUT...we spent all that money and we were not going to stay inside. So we bought ponchos and forged on. I suggest putting some rubber flip flops or crocs or something in your backpack, so if it does rain, you can change your shoes. Sneakers take a LONG time to dry out (I speak from experience here! LOL)

Crowds also tend to thin out in the rain, and as long as it's not lightning, most rides continue to operate.

Part of why places like Six Flags will shut down in the rain is because they have a lot of thrill rides that are high up and things high in the air + lightening is NOT a good combination. At Disney, there aren't as many high up rides. They might shut down some of the rides during a thunderstorm, but there is so much to do that is either not high up or is inside, that it doesn't mean shutting down the whole park. In fact, we were at AK in the middle of a hurricane, and they didn't shut down the park, but they did take a little break from things like Kali River Rapids (EE wasn't open yet, but I'll bet they would've closed that one for a bit, too.) The good news is that within an hour it was all up and running again, lol.

I would guess that at MK if there was a lot of lightening they would temporarily close AStro Orbiter, TTA, maybe Splash Mountain and/or Big Thunder, and possibly ones like Dumbo and Aladdin...I can't think of any others at MK off the top of my head. Space Mountain is indoors (or at least mostly? I don't think it ends up outdoors at all), so I don't think they'd close that one.

HTH!
