We are leaving Wednesday morning for our WDW trip! So excited that I have butterflies in my stomach!! I have been twice but many, many years ago when I was in junior high. DH and I are taking our 7 year old DD so she can experience the magic. He will be at convention for 2 of the days so it will just be us 2 girls so I need a lightweight bag for the parks big enough to hold everything but not too bulky. Any ideas? Also, what are the necessities I need to make sure I have with us? I just want to make sure my list is complete. Thanks so much, but I've got to get back to packing LOL!!

If you are going to buy something...I noticed a lot of people had clear plastic bags (tote style, not just big ziplocs...) and they breezed through security bag check. One of the bag checkers said, "oh - see thru - that's my new favorite color!" I don't actually know where to find them - maybe Target or Walmart. I know that if I was shopping I wouldn't have even thought to buy a see-thru bag, but if I ever see one now I'll definitely buy it with WDW in mind.

Hello! We are also leaving this week for WDW! We arrive on Thursday. Although there are 5 of us, I am taking just a gym sack that cinches at the top. It's an Adidas one..my dh found 2 of them for us at Burlington Coat Factory for like $5.98 each! Finish Line also carries very similar ones for $10. I also will be using a fanny pack to keep my $ secure in front of me. I found this for $4 or $5 at Wal-Mart in the purse section..it has an attached coin purse inside one of the pockets- I believe there are 3 different sections? It's light pink-there was also another one in navy blue, but my 5 year dd little princess that she is, insisted on Mommy wearing PINK :) LOL. Also, the navy blue wasn't exactly the same size w/pockets as the pink one.

Here is what I plan on taking in the gym sack:
Sunscreen, ponchos (cheap version from Wally World), camera - although I will prob mostly carry this in the fanny pack, "misting" battery-operated fan from wal-mart - looks like it will be in the low-mid 90's all week. I also will carry a few things to keep my 10yr old, 5yr old, and 3 yr old busy while waiting in lines etc - or for down time. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but whatever it is it's not heavy.

Have FUN!!

When we went a few years ago with my then 2 and 5 year olds, I took a very lightweight shoulder bag (made of that parachute material) and put everything in categories in gallon Ziploc bags.

my dd (6½yo) loved wearing her princess fanny pack this past trip. she felt like such a big girl with it on. i was afraid of letting her wear it at first because i thought after an hour she'd be handing it to me saying it was uncomfortable, but she just loved it (i talk about how much she loved it in my trip report below... i think day 10, our mommy/daughter day in MK).

anyway, you could get her one when you get there (most stores sell them) or you could try to find a kids one before you leave. this way *you* don't have to carry everything. not that you even need much for you and her (since she's a big girl).

our last trip, i brought w/ me a fanny pack (i got it at walmart) and a backpack i had bought at disney last year. this backpack is great... it's black and has a mickey on the outside, it has drawstrings, an outside cellphone pocket and another zip pocket on the outside and on the inside it has a pocket that has I think 2 openings (for money, cards, etc), then the large inside area. it's a medium size... just perfect for me. i switched on different days wearing the fanny pack and the backpack, trying to decide which i liked better, and i really couldn't decide. the fanny pack might be better if it's really hot out. and if you and dd wear one, you should be able to put everything in there if you're packing lightly. the backpacks strings bothered my shoulders on the days i wore a spaghetti-strap shirt. so it depends on what i'm wearing that day from now on too.

what i usually carry into the parks is: chapstick, powder compact for me (although dd always steals it and over-powders her face like a clown, then looks at herself in the mirror with this "i'm sexy" kind of look... LOL!), our room cards/tickets, money, cc, drivers license & health ins. card, purell and a small packet of wipes, a couple of bandaids, maybe a granola bar or 2 for 'emergencies', my small camera, and any adr #'s i might need that day, oh, and if it's hot, a very small tube of sunscreen. You can add an autograph book and pen if your dd is into that. i've really stopped bringing in too much to the parks, i like to travel light. since i still get dd a stroller, i don't carry the waterbottle straps anymore either, although i did like my insulated water bottle holder w/ strap... it has an outside pocket that i could almost fit my necessities in to. but i just put the water bottle in the pocket on the back of the stroller. they even sell those water bottle straps that are just a string (for easy carrying if there's not a water bottle attached to it).

hth! Have fun on your trip!!!!!!!!!!

When it was just my 7 yo dd and I all we took into the parks (in Dec) was a windbreaker
