What the...P&PP just ruined my plans!?

Thank you very much, Disney, for scheduling an event that my family is NOT interested on, on the last night of our trip, when we were hoping to close with a Magical evening of Spectro and Wishes!...NOT!

Sorry to sound so- well, un-Disney like but...my plane tickets are bought (non-refundable) so we can't change our dates). Now what?

I GUESS we'll end with IllumiNations, which of course isn't bad at all. BUT, we weren't (aren't!) planning on park hopping, so that changes our itinerary for the whole day, not just the evenings...

Mostly, the letdown is mine because, all my memories of MK as a kid had me ending the day exhausted but happy while watching the Electric parade and fireworks...what kind of an anticlimactic ending to the whole MK experience would it be to leave for the last time at 7 pm??? (And with nothing to do the next morning but pack and check out?)

I even bought our plane tickets for later the next day so we wouldn't have to get up early after the late "last blast" night...

I even considered attending the P&PP but even if I could justify the extra $ on an already strrreetched budget, my son is just NOT into pirates (my DH on the other hand, might go for it LOL, but that's not the point!)

Does anyone have any words of advice - or consolation?

I think ending with Fantasmic could be absolutely wonderful - but I'm a HUGE fan of that show. I think it's much more spectacular than MK's evening shows (or the other parks, for that matter).

However, we like to end at MK also, so I can understand your disappointment. Don't let it get you down, you'll have a wonderful trip anyway. :)

I just looked at our itinerary and one of the P&PP nights was to be our late night at MK. I have an ADR for Crystal Palace at 5:40 and that was going to be our evening in MK. My kids would probably think it was cool, but I estimate the EXTRA cost will be $165. DH will NEVER go for it, and I tend to think I don't want to either.

ARGH! Now I'm going to have to switch around all our ADRS again.

When we do a late party (ours is always the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party), we plan on the morning and early afternoon being an "off" time from the parks. We hang out at the pool or hit DTD. Since we can get into the park at 4 pm for the MVMCP, it's a long night riding and watching shows. It's a trade-off money-wise vs. a regular day in the park with an early close. However, we choose single-day tickets when we go, no park hopper.....that's why it is a money trade-off.

I think the late party atmosphere is wonderful at MK. It's uncrowded and fun. I haven't been to the P&PP in particular, but I'd be inclined to give it a shot. I was reading up on it, and it sounds awfully neat to me! Maybe because we've been so many times, this is new and different.

If you can swing it, I DEFINITELY recommend the Pirate and Princess party.

Oh no! When we were there in Feb, they did Wishes as normal before the park closed to non party-goers. I don't know if they will do that in August or not.

I absolutely love Illuminations, there's just nothing like it. Don't let it get you down too much, you're going to WDW!

I with you - I get my vacation plans interrupted by grad nights. GRRRR....why not have them closer to GRADUATION instead of in early April? Sarah did NOT want to stay "with the animals" at AKL and begged to stay with Woody and Buzz (ASM) so I changed the reservations and could only stay half the time at ASM and half time at POR. I bet I'd be able to stay the whole time in one place if it weren't for grad night. I could also have smoother plans and not a big hole in my schedule if I didn't have to be out of MK at 7 on those two days.

BLEAH! I'll give disney the evil eye for you too!

Sorry to hear this! Our first trip something similar happened due to Grad Night. It felt very weird having to leave the MK so early (I think it might have been at 6pm!).

LOL - Thanks for all the empathy, ladies! I was a little worried that my whining would come off as un-Disney liek or something...but, you understand! I'm so glad to have people like this to ask questions, share the excitement AND vent the frustrations!
