Going to Disney in September with my DS. He will be 23 months at the time of our trip. Which waterpark will he enjoy the most. I have been to Blizzard Beach, but did not pay any attention to the kids . . . I was on my honeymoon :) Thanks in advance!

No practical experience but from what I read, Typhoon Lagoon is more suited for small children.

We're hoping to get to both of them on our trip in the next two weeks, and if we make it, I'll let you know!

I did read somewhere that Typhoon Lagoon has more shade to sit in, but DS6 likes the show we saw on the Travel Channel that showed a little bit of the "bigger little kids" area at Blizzard Beach.

Hope that helps,

blizzard beach had a relatively cute area for the toddlers, a nicer area for the bigger kids. Did you have older ones too? my dd didn't like the water much anyway. But if your does like water it looked like fun! Can't compare it to anything else there though sorry!

I've only been to BB with little ones... Ours were 3 and 4 mos. when we went. I was very happy with the children's area there. We did sit in an area close to the toddler play area that had a lot of shade. There was a very shallow wading pool with fountains, and a little slide. My 3yo had a great time, but unfortunately our 4 mos old played for only a little while before getting fussy, so we cut our visit a little short.

We're heading back this year, now that our kids are 7 and 4! I can't wait to go there again!

A 23mo would love the Tykes Peak area at Blizzard Beach. I have no idea what's at Typhoon Lagoon, but I would imagine it would be equally appropriate.

I did notice a lack of shade at Blizzard Beach(which will come up in my next trip report) and the fact that a solitary parent can't be at the top and bottom of a water slide, even a kiddy slide. My DD is six and this bothered me. If you'll be in there with two adults, no big deal, and I don't know if Typhoon Lagoon's area is the same or not.

I have been to both with my 2 and 3 year olds. I would say it definitely depends on the kid which is better. My son loved the smaller water slides they had at Blizzard Beach. They had a tot section and also an area for approx. 10 year olds (seperate areas.) My daughter just played in the wading area that was 15 inches deep. As for shade, I don't remember as much about that. There were two of us so it did make it a bit easier but even if your buy yourself, you are still allowed to go on most of teh small slides with the tot (except the small tube ride of which they have an attendant at the bottom helping the kids off). If you put the kid on at the top and walk to the bottom, they go pretty slow that you can reach him by the time he gets off. There also was never any wait when we were there.

As for Typhoon Lagoon. It has a couple little playground-type water slides and mostly water spouts and not much for actual water slides. There are pop-up jets and things more like that than anything else. I felt it was more chaotic because there were kids running all over the place and sometimes with little ones that is harder to manage.

So if your tot won't do any of the small slides Typhoon Lagoon may be a better choice.

Both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are great for kids! For the toddlers, Blizzard Beach has a little bit better play area. You may also want to stay at a Disney Resort that has a better pool area like Disney's Polynesian Resort or Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resort. These have beach entry pool areas which are also really great for preschoolers, too.
