Which park AK or Epcot or ???

We may be attending a conference in July staying at the Coronado which I understand is pretty much the norm for a conference. We live in CA and went to Disneyland/California Adventures last year and I promised the kids a future trip back there. We have limited time with the conference events and I wanted a unique DisneyWorld adventure. So which park for someone who doesn't want the Magic Kingdom? Also are the water parks worthwhile?

We are a family of 5. A DH, me, dd 8, ds 5, and ds 2.

Thanks everyone.

Epcot is my DD's 2nd favorite, right after MK.

I've just come back and I have to say, I loved both. People say Animal Kingdom is hottest of the parks but I find there's so much more shade there than at other parks. It depends what your kids like. Are they really into animals? Than they'd love Animal Kingdom. I think there's a lot to do there! Not as high on the rides end compared to Epcot but lots to look at and learn about. My 10 year old ds would have spent all day looking at the naked mole rats!

Epcot is a blast too though. If they like rides and science, they'll love Epcot. Plus there's the World Showcase which my kids actually loved! I was surprised how much fun they had visiting the different countries.

I guess i'm not much help. I love them both!
Water parks, I don't know anything about, sorry!

Another vote for Epcot...unless your kids are total animal freaks. I don't think anyone else mentioned this but at Epcot you also have the Turtle Talk with Crush attraction, and the hand-on exhibit place at the end of the Imagination ride, both of which are excellent for your littler ones, imo. There's just a lot more to do there, and more varied!

Can't really say much about the water parks either, I guess it depends on how much you're into the water slides. As far as a place to hang out near water, the resort pools are far more relaxed even when they're crowded (as they will be). And I hear the Coronado's pool is beautiful (and I've seen pictures)! So again unless you and DH are into the "thrill" slides at the water parks, I think I'd just spend time at the pool.

I just wanted to chime in and say that my family had a blast at the water park. I think it was my DS, 5 favorite day. He cried the day we packed up to go home because he wanted to go back to a water park. We went to Typhoon Lagoon, but DH and I went to Blizzard Beach on our honeymoon and we liked it too. I agree with the others and think that Epcot would be a good choice too.

Hope you have a great time!

Animal Kingdom and a water park hands down for us. AK is the whole families favourite and we all love atwer parks too.

We did enjoy Epcot too though, but if we had to choose between the two it would eb AK for sure.

Out of those I'd probably hit Epcot, but I really love both!

What conference are you going to? Is it the ACFE conference? I'm going to that as well. The Coronado is booked though, so I'm staying at Port Orleans. My family is joining me on Wed until Sat.

I would say epcot hands down over AK! and my kids love animals but we just weren't that impressed with AK. Actually if and when we go back we will probably skip it to be honest. But epcot is the one park my boys ages 11 and 8 want to go back to, it was a close tie between that and MK, We really loved MK for the boys too which totally surprised us!!
