Will a Brita filter help the yucky water
| Sat, 07-14-2007 - 10:37pm |
I have heard more people complain about the taste of the tap water in DW. My neighbor just returned and she said she couldn't even stand taking a shower with the smell of the water. I was just wondering... has anyone brought a brita pitcher with filter, or a PUR or other brand to the property and filtered the water? I was just thinking we could bring one down there and filter tap water in the hotel, fill our water bottles and chill them overnight in the fridge. Anyone done this? We are BIG water drinkers and I think this would save us tons of money if it actually worked. I can see my dh buying 4-5 bottled waters a day just for himself!
Thanks.
Laura

I brought a Brita bottle (personal size when they still sold them) in 2004 and I didn't find it helped. Others have found it helped, but it still tasted nasty to me.

We have quite a few people that complain about the water at WDW. Some have brought the filter, but many say it doesn't work very well. The water still tastes nasty.
There was a lady the other day that said she had the driver stop at the store on their way from the airport and she bought 7 or 8 gallons of water and just poured them into the individual water bottles every night to chill.
That might be a less expensive solution, depending on how you are getting from the airport.
We let our water bottles set in the frig overnight and the water was tolerable the next day.

Whenever we are in Florida (my in-laws live outside of Tampa), our very first stop is to a Walmart or some other store for bottled water.
A gallon for each day & a half for the bathroom for tooth-brushing & pill-taking, and a case or two of individual bottles for the fridge for taking with us during the day.
I'm thinking for DW, if we freeze the individual bottles, they'd melt nicely giving us cold water throughout the day.

Thank you but we are flying and using Magic Express so we won't be able to visit a store to buy water. And we are trying to avoid paying for grocery delivery service. We borrowed a slim brita pitcher, and we are going to hope for the best. If it doesn't work out, we'll have to buy there.

In all of my trips to FL (Disney and other) I've never had a problem with the tap water for showers, cooking, washing or brushing teeth. It does not at all taste good to me, but if I had to I *could* drink drink it. :-) Even my 9 yo doesn't like it, and that was w/o any of us saying anything.
Thank you Sonya for your input. We too are not that picky, but if its' as bad as people say, we may be disappointed if we end up spending tons of money on bottled water. My mom leant us a slim sized brita pitcher. I am planning on getting a new filter and bringing it with us. We'll filter water at the hotel and fill our water bottles and chill them in the fridge overnight. I hope it works well enough so that the water "problem" isn't a problem.
