Family vacations are a rare pleasure, so each time you take one, it should be fantastic. And when you’ve taken a fantastic one, you need to spread the joy. Tell us all about it -- and share your experiences with fellow moms.

What family-favorite vacation would you recommend to other iVillage members? It can be off-the-beaten-path or a tried-and-true location; it can be as close as your own town or as far as the other side of the world; extravagant or budget-friendly -- anything goes! Explain why it was so great and why you think other families will love it too.

While I love Disney World and have been several times with my kids, it is second to my favorite vacation: St. George Island, Florida. We rented a house on the beach and it was wonderful. We walked on the beach at sunrise and sunset, picked up shells, and just marveled at the beauty of the ocean. My kids loved the water, it was their first experience with the ocean. We had our own private pool also, so that was nice. It was just so peaceful to be able to look out at the water. The house was beautiful and had great amenities, and we went with my parents and my sister and her family so the price break down was very doable.

The beaches on St. George are not crowded, it is not a tourist beach. The island had a few places to eat, and a cute little ice cream shop. We were very near Apalachicola which we also enjoyed.

Ahh, to go back...
