Been MIA so long...

Hi, guys, I'm here.  I see there are tons of posts (and trip reports - YAY!!!) for me to catch up on, so that will keep me busy for a while!

The board nonsense originally kept me off of here, but just some different life directions, too.  In spring, we were trying to decide about moving (we didn't enjoy living in Jacksonville) and decided to put our house on the market.  That took some work - we listed just before Memorial Day.  Then we started looking for where we'd move next (assuming our house sold), so we took a trip, driving around various cities we thought we might enjoy.  I was still interested in the suburb of Atlanta I had wanted to move to when we moved to Jacksonville, but DH wasn't sure.  We (on a whim) drove to Knoxville, TN on the way home and we both really liked it!  Well, shortly after that, we got an offer on our house with a 30-day close.  Yikes!!!

So, home shopping commenced quickly - necessitating trips north 9 hours!  We found a place, thought about it, made an offer, drove back up for inspection (because DH had some concerns - it's on older house, will need some work).  Thankfully, it all worked out and we were only "homeless" for about a week (during which time we traveled a bit).  Closed on the new house Aug 9th and school started here Aug 12th!  Just in the nick of time!!!

Busy summer.  No Disney.   :(

And now, of course, since we're now 10 hours away from Disney, now I REALLY want to go again!!!  Who knows when we'll make it next.  We've been there every year since Megan turned 4 (I guess that's 4 years) for their birthday celebration (in February - nice to combine the birthdays) - so that's a small chance.  I mean, at least I can justify it as a time we "should" go.   :)

So, there's my catch-up.  Still unpacking here, not a lot of exploring the area yet.  But that's on our list!

Congratulations on your new home! Hoping it is a better fit for you guys. What a busy summer you have had... It is wonderful that you were able to sell and buy so quickly though, sounds like an ideal situation.  Nine hours still is a doable drive to Disney so I can easily see a February trip in your future. ;)

BTW, I was just thinking of you when I packed my Ergo away now that Anthony is 41 pounds a week shy of three...truly my best baby gear purchase ever!

The issues with this board still drive me nuts most days.   It is a shame as the board is so much slower with so many fun people gone.    I'm very glad to see you back!   And hope we see more of you here.

I'm jealous you can pick where you live.   When John and I play "if we won a lottery" (of course we never think to actually play) Tennessee is high on our list.   It looks beautiful and I hope it is a great fit for you.   And that is an incredible turn around on selling your house - congratulations!!

OOOOH, here's hoping we get a trip report of WDW from February for your DDs birthdays.

You are lucky your house sold so quickly!  You're only about 4 hours away from me now Smile  And a 9 hour drive to Disney isn't bad at all.  That's how far it is for us.  Of course, Meredith and I are flying down in Oct. lol!  That is, if I can find halfway decent plan tickets Frown.  Heck, it really doesn't matter because I'm not driving with just my daughter for 9 hours!

Congrats on the move!

Melissa, that's so awesome that you were able to use the Ergo for so long! I'm glad it has been so well-used!

Deb, we had never even been to TN before. But it really does seem pretty here. Can't wait to see more of it! M'Shel, I know what you mean about driving that long with just one kid. Plus, it's cheaper to fly with only two people! :) Maybe we can find decent flight prices. We'll have to see as we get closer...

and 9 hours-not too far!!! If I were that "close"  i would probably convince DH to drive (i dont know how so he would have to do the whole thing!)
Maybe you can still do a february trip!!

Hey Hilarie! Obviously I'm more MIA than you are - I'm just catching up with your post here. Congratulations on your move! So exciting! I love how you guys decided to move there by visiting places you were interested in - so cool that it all worked out! Alan's family is in Western NC - not far from the eastern TN border - not sure how far that is from Knoxville but from what I see around there, it's beautiful! I have faith in you that somehow you're going to "sneak" a trip to WDW in February :D Best of luck to you all!

M'Shel, I should have asked: where do you live? only 4 hours away from here, huh? Val, we drove through various parts of NC looking for where we'd like to live. I liked the Raleigh area (well, Cary, specifically). DH didn't like Charlotte at all. Ashville looked really pretty, too (but I think it's expensive to live there).
