You can keep the secret! I have kept the cruise part of our vacation a secret for a year! We also managed to take a surprise trip a year ago October. Have fun!
The best thing about it - I have a guide book that doesn't have a picture on the cover, and my son saw me writing in it and assumed it was my diary. He read Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and he's got mad respect for the idea of privacy when it comes to a diary. So I've got this book sitting right out there, and he still has no idea!
The person I really want to keep it from is my mother. She's going to have a fit, first of all because she would have wanted to come, and secondly because my sister is getting remarried at the end of the week. We're coming back in time for the shower - we aren't going to miss anything - except all the stress and the work. On the one hand it will be good to keep us out of her hair. On the other hand, she won't be able to vent to me about how nutty my sister is - she's a control freak, something is going to push her over the edge and pity the people in her way when it does.
104 days until disney and 5 days until my nondisney cruise! Oh, and DH and I are tkaing the kids away Fri- early Sunday. EEK
We will get back Sunday Afternoon, I will have to unpack the family, do as much laundry as I can and then my niece will arrive to spend the night then she, my mom and I will leave for our cruise first thing Monday!
Wow a big pile of laundry! Happy Mother's Day to you! LOL! That is what I am getting too! We are taking my kids away for the weekend too. Going to an amusement park in another state. Should be fun, but probably exhausting. I will have a pile of laundry too.
1 month, 2 weeks to go!! I've kept this trip a secret from my 9 and 13 year old boys since November! It's killing me, but it will be so worth it. We surprised them back in 2005, and their reaction was priceless. I hope I get a similar reaction when I give them the news this time around! They know we are going SOMEWHERE on vacation, but they think we're going to Williamsburg. My 13 year old REALLY wants to go here...so I hope he isn't disappointed when I say we're going to Disney! LOL
I'm not sure when to tell them. We are flying out VERY early in the morning, which will require everyone to be up around 3:30 am ....I think we need to spring the trip on them the night before! :)
If you tell them the night before they'll never sleep - I'd wait if I were you. Pack the bags in the car the night before and tell them you might wake them up for a meteor shower. Then stick a sign on the car for them to find telling them where they're going so they can find it when they get outside. Still be a great surprise!

So I've got a heck of a week coming up very soon!
