We will be going on our annual comping trip this July. I want to do a savenger hunt with the kids. Any idea's what to put on the list to find?

TIA

Oh!I love scavenger hunts! I've been thinking of things and of course a lot depends on

the ages of your kids and where you'll be camping. But here's a few I came up with.

A perfect skipping rock. Then you can follow up the scavenger hunt with rock skipping

lessons. You have have a little practice, but I still remember my Dad teaching me and my

sisters what to look for in the rock and then just the right twist of the wrist.

A rock with a shape, any shape. This one calls for a little leeway of course....you might not see

the shape of a bunny or a house like the kids do.

Acorn,top,bottom,or both.

Pine cone

Feathers

Caterpillers

Shells or leaves

Extra points for a perfectly round rock,or an all white one,or perfect egg shape etc.

Hmmmm....I just know I'm gonna be thinking on this one for the rest of the day! LOL

My Mom used to do treasure hunts with us and I did with my chilkdren. Hand them a clue

and they have to figure out where to go. If they figure it right, they find the next clue.

At the end of the trail would be a litle inexpensive treasure for each of us. Once I used

a pan of freshly made brownies as the treasure!

Have fun!

Thanks Ruth,

just so you know the kids are 12, 8 and the baby will turn 3 the day we leave for camping.

Thanks again

Are the scavenger hut items collected or just found?

For example: if a fresbee was on the list, would they need to just see one, or have it in their hands? Are you thinking of small items they might find in the campground or along the trail that they could take back to camp?

Thanks for the clarification!

I was thinking things from nature. Things they can be looking for when we go on hikes and such. Not nessasarily things they can pick up and keep.

Thanks

OK, Thanks Tracy, for the clarification. How about fossils? They can be found almost everywhere in gravel. Good history lessons there.
