Pine Lake State park provides a pleasing mix of woodland, river and lake in the midst of rolling farmland.

I ended up highlighting the text to read it.

This is one of my favorite sites here in Iowa. My grandparents took me camping there usually at least once a season. I have taken my DH a couple of times and had a ball. Unfortunately, it seems like each time we have camped up there, the weather gods have made it rain HARD at least one day. We tent camp and cook outdoors, so it's nice that Eldora is so close by. There are a couple nice little cafes or bar/grill places if you really need some place to eat.

The last time we went, 2002, the new trail hiking/biking was complete and really great. And there are still some regular, unpaved trails to explore.

Wow, thanks for the info! We travel all over the US and tent camp (unless it is rainy LOL), from Vancover to Maine to Padre Tx, and we are only about 40 mins from Pine Lake Park and never visited nor heard of it. Can't wait to take a drive this spring to check it out! Thanks again for the very very thorough description!!
