Are you - or have you been - "room mom" for your child's class parties? Holy cow, it's a lot of work. I've been a preschool room mom for three years in a row now and I am officially stepping down for awhile after this year.

Nope. I've never been a room mom. I'm not even really sure how our school chooses them! I've volunteered to help with parties, though, and it really is a lot of work! DS had his V-day party today. It lasted about an hour, and it's crazy to think how much time went into planning the thing! Ian is only in first grade, so right now parents are limited to volunteering for just one party. I've heard that changes in the higher grades. I wonder if parents just lose interest.

It really is amazing how much planning goes into it. We have the preschool parties down now, so we use the same formula with new crafts each time. But the Kindy party was really amazing. They did pine cone & peanut butter bird feeders, all sorts of crafts, a huge bean bag toss / tick tack toe board, food and more. And my 2nd grader's room mom created this huge scavenger hunt / obstacle course...I can't even describe it. It was amazing!
