Well I know that my husband would agree with you!! :-)
We never really did much. We usually skipped gifts and would go out to dinner, but not on V'Day. Now that we have a ton of kids, we like to do stuff for them, but we still don't do much for each other. This year I framed a photo of DH's grandma along with one of her hand-written recipes.
We also do homemade cards. DH has never ever been one to buy cards at a store. He says it's a waste of money. The homemade part doesn't bother me, I just wish he'd put some thought into it. Instead he always makes a card that morning out of whatever paper he pulls out of the recycling bin.
I like the way you think! I totally think it's overrated, my dh and I haven't given each other gifts in years. I feel it's more for the kids now, but am getting tired of spending money on cards that they don't even look at when they get home.
