Now, on a brighter note for the scout troop... for the 3 meetings previous to this past one, the boys had been working on first aide skills in order to compete in a First Aide meet with other local troops. We had 11 boys attend split into 2 patrols to compete with a total of 35 patrols. My son's patrol came in 1st place and the other patrol came in 3rd place. Apparently the judges who don't know the kids in a group go to each patrol and give them a scenario like a fall on a hike or swimming injury or heat exhaustion or cold weather injury and they have to act out- with the supplies they brought to bandage, treat, and deal with whatever was in the situation. Even the doctor (who I don't always like the way he works) was surprised that the boys picked up so much and were both able to do so well in the competition.
kudos to the troop. That is impressive that both patrols ranked in the top 3 :)
