I hope everything goes well... that nobody hurts themselves hiking... that everyone is warm enough to sleep a bit... that the long drive is safe and uneventful... and that the scout spirit of brotherhood is enjoyed during the whole trip.  We have packed and prepared.  Sean is getting his rest.  And they will be off early in the morning!

My son came back from his trip and was very happy!  They had 4 boys in 6th grade.  2 who were 9th and 10th grade.  2 who are 18 years old.  3 adult men.  They arrived, hiked, ate lunch as trail food, arrived at adirondek shelters and cooked dinner (steak, mashed potatoes- I'm not sure who carried that!).  Slept overnight (and it wasn't as cool as we expected) and hiked out today.  The rain held off until they were on their way to the burger joint for lunch.  My son said that there were really amazing views, fun bridges to cross, crazy long hills, and he couldn't wait to do it again next year.  His stuff smells of campfire smoke, but we found no ticks!  And he used nearly everything he took... unused was his packed breakfast of a poptart (I think he ate someone elses?), his flashlight because the campfire was bright enough, and his extra socks and extra fleece shirt.  Somehow, he also managed to arrive home with all the money he went with (he was supposed to pay for his lunch).  And I was thrilled that he took photos!

I asked the assistant scoutmaster how the other scout trip went this weekend (biking trip to a different location at the same Ohiopyle State Park) and the leader said he has no idea who even went on the trip, let alone how it went.  He didn't want to know anything about it and he didn't want to be involved.  I didn't get a chance to ask the scoutmaster.  And I cannot attend the meeting tomorrow night because I have a girl scout function to be- different location, same time.

Hi - I posted to your original post yesterday, but I couldn't get it to stick. I'm glad to hear the weekend went well. I'm guessing by the ASM reply that you have your answer about why the troop is camping two different weekes this summer...wow.

Yep.  And I had trouble getting on the other day as well... that's part of the reason you got an e-mail.

Have a wonderful day!
