What's your den or troop doing this week?
The 27th is a pack bowling event.
The Derby is March 1.
My Webelos den will be visiting one of the local Boy Scout troops - most of the parents don't even realize it's a requirement for the Arrow of Light.
On the 24th, our Tigers are doing a Go See It at a Police Station. It's the last bead they need to earn. Then on the morning of the 26th (which is when we would have normally done the go see it) we will have their den meeting. They are working on a skit for blue and gold and I don't know what else.
They also had their Pinewood Derby on the 19th. Sean did much of the work on his car himself. It was wedge shaped, painted orange with blue paint pen scribbles on the 2 sides. And on top was a Tiger Cub logo and his pack number. My son came in 5th out of 5 Tigers. He didn't throw a fit or get upset and I'm so proud of him. The 3rd and 2nd place boys had to re-race 4 times to determine who moved onto the finals...that was hard and the one who ended up in 3rd did throw a fit. All in all, it was a fun time and my husband (who never was a scout) decided that he will have to put more time in with our son next year on his car so he isn't always last!

having done YEARS of PWDs (in fact, for 8 years we had an electronic computerized track and ran races for other packs) let me give you a clue - when you are putting in the wheels, put the graphite on the nail, then the wheel, then put it in a drill and spin it before you tap it in to the car.
Also, be sure to have 3 of the wheels even and flat.
This is just a normal troop meeting week; the theme is Klondike Preparation.
Pinewood Derby on Friday.
