Hannah's GS troop is coming to my house tomorrow night to work on stuff for Thinking Day. We are making Irish flag pins and Irish Soda Bread (LOL, we got Ireland, can you tell?). Friday night we have our Thinking Day event. I don't think half of the troop is even coming. Hannah has BB practice and one of the other girls has hockey. Oh well.

For Cubs, D's den is going on a go see it to a firestation (again) and then to take a tour of McDonald's. We'll eat dinner at McD's too, so that will be fun. We had Blue and Gold this past Sunday and it went very well.

Hi -

When is your derby?

We have our derby this weekend - we'll be trying out our new track and timer. I hope it was worth the money...

It turned out well. Our girls were the oldest ones there, so I am wondering when they will tire of it and not want to do it anymore. We had Ireland and we made irish soda bread and irish flag pins to sell and then the money goes to the Juliet Gordon Lowe Foundation and then I think some of it might go to the SU.

The other countries were: England, Denmark, Mexico, The US, Japan, Kuwait, China, Congo and I think that's it. Each girl got a passport with a map of each country and then as they walked around from country to country they got their passport stamped and were able to buy trinkets or snacks from each country with things costing not more than 25 cents (which cracks me up because it cost us $40 for the supplies and we made a whopping $5.50- they would have been better off having us just donate to them). But the girls had fun making the soda bread and the pins. Next we are planning to do a GS sleepover and work on several badges. It'll be at my house and I have my co-leader spending the night and at least one of the other mom's is coming over just to hang out with us. Should be fun and hopefully productive. Since we are down to 5 girls now, it's easier to do that kind of stuff.

I've got 185 cases of cookies to get at 9:39am on thursday. That's 2220 boxes... anyone have an extra (empty) mini-van? Anyone want to drive over here and help me unload and sort? haha

We had our meeting on Monday night with my Cadettes. They have decided to try for a Europe trip in 2013! They are beyond excited. They will be between 8th and 9th grades then. It will be a mother/daughter trip. I'm not sure at this point if all of them are going to be able to go, but we are going to start working on raising the money. Should be pretty interesting. I gave them a big speech about how this is a big commitment on their part not just their parents and that if we are doing a fund raising event they are going to have to put it ahead of other commitments (soccer, basketball, etc, etc, etc) and also they are committing to staying in GS for at least two more years. They all agreed to it, so we shall see. The parents were in attendance so they know what was discussed and heard their girls make that commitment.

Wow! I can't imagine trying to plan a trip to Europe. I hope the girls and their parents really take all of the work to heart and make a great tmemory :)
