I was reading an article this morning (http://www.patriotledger.com/topstories/x2105639341/Braintree-Girl-Scouts-make-decorations-for-holiday-dinner) that said Girl Scouts made cornucopia table centerpieces for a community Thanksgiving dinner.

My cub pack collects mens socks and individually wraps the pairs in holiday paper to hand out to nursing home residents when we go caroling there.

My Girl Scout troop will be purchasing fleece fabric and making lap blankets for the same thing as well as for shut-ins in our church parish... I'm not sure exactly how the shut-in thing will go or exactly what we will do because this is the first time we will attempt that... and it will be with driving around and such... maybe we will have to split into 2 groups rather than all go together?

We unpacked and sorted about 200 boxes of food at the Food bank the other week, and will be serving at the Soup Kitchen today.

We do food drives at every monthly Service Unit event.

And, every year we collect stamps from our Christmas cards and other mail to send in to a "stamp ministry" project run by patchworkdesigns.

Earlier in the week, a couple of scouts rang our doorbell to collect for a food drive. They picked a bad day, but I gave them what I could. It was the first year I saw the scouts going door-to-door for this.
