Merry Christmas - some feedback to other posts.

I still can't get a repsonse page to come up.  When it takes 3 times to log in and when I try to respond to a post it tells me I don't have an account (even though I am now logged in) IT MAKES ME CRAZY!

Honestly, I don't mind tag-a-longs.  My issue is drop-offs who are not in the den.  D's den is at 14 kids.  We often have a few extra kids there WITH a parent.  It's just not ok to expect the adults in attendance to babysit...especially when the kid in question has some issues.  I talked to the mom.  Maybe this will stop???

Becky -  We visited Warther Carvings when we completed whittling chip.  We went to a local bike trail and worked on our biking requirements.  We didn't do a bike shop tour because the group is so large that the bike shop could not accomidate all of the boys at once.  We visited the police department.  This was the best police dept tour.  The officer did a great job with the boys.  He's a dad to kids in that age range and really knew how to talk to them.  Several of our meetings have been at the local park just to mix things up.  It's much more fun do the fitness and sports activities outside in a wide open space.  We still have a swim meeting, a video night, and a kickball meeting before May.

I'm really looking forward to Webelos.  We have a mom who is going to do the fitness pin this summer.  I also want to do biking all summer and then end with the traveler pin to Cuyahoga National Park.  We plan to ride the train and bike :)

DH and I were talking last night.  Just 5 months of Bear left and then we are on to Webelos.  I am so looking forward to Webelos.

My intention is for them to not finish earning it until they move up to webelos scouts!  But if we start now, it could be one of the first things we mark off the to-do list!  It's much easier to do the alternate thing for Bear than it is to do the alternate thing for webelos!

Happy New Year!  I hope your scouting year is very enjoyable for you and your family!  And I hope that mine doesn't drive me crazy!

Happy New Year to you, too! We have not worked on the religious award for the past 2 years. I thought we had a parent willing to facilitate it with the pastor at our charter org, but she decided to just do it with her son vs. opening it to any other boys. I will look into offering it to Webelos next year when D hits that level. We'll probably do it on a Sunday afternoon if I can get the pastor to approve me to teach...

That sounds wonderful!  I am also looking forward to webelos as well.  It will be good for us (and I'll have all but one of our kids at the same level then).  I really don't know what will happen beyond that.  I'm focused on having a good experience for who we have now, but it's hard.

Your trip to Cayahuga sounds fun- and to tie it into the travelor pin- even better!  It can be something they look forward to!

In our new year, we will work on the Parvuli Dei religious emblem award for the 3 boys.  I'm going to have little "meetings" at the one mom's house so she can be helpful and also feel like she's able to contribute since we are moving the meeting nights to same time as boy scouts.

-Have a Happy New Year!
