Here's an idea I read of elsewhere for bridging to Brownies. You set up a large cardboard box (a refrigerator-sized box is ideal) and decorate it to look like an oven. You cut a door in the front. In front of the "oven', you put a table with a big mixing bowl and wooden spoon and an assortment of measuring cups and spoons. You have each Daisy add an "ingredient" to the bowl, like "1 cup of friendliness", etc (use the parts of the GS Law as your ingredients) Then each girl takes a turn stirring the "batter". Then, you have each girl enter the "oven" one at a time...inside the "oven", you have either an adult or older girl to help the Daisy out of her tunic and into her Brownie vest or sash. Then, your newly "baked" Brownie, pops out of the oven.

Our troop last year did a teddy bear picnic. The girls all brought their own teddy bears and the troop leader went to build-a-bear and bought all the bears a brownie vest. The girls all got their new brownie vest (buy large sized vests so you don't have to resew patchs when they grow out of the small size) and so did the bears. Very cute. We also had a 3d teddie bear cake (Wilton mold) that was decorated as a brownie. The girls still talk about the bridging even after a year!

What we are doing is having a bbq at a park and inviting all the parents and whomever they want. my Dh is building a little platform/bridge for the girls to walk over. What we will do is have all the girls line up and before each girl walks over, my co-leader will take off her tunic and hand it to the girls parents, then the girl will walk over the bridge and as they get to teh other side, I will put their new vest on them. There will also be some Brownies there to hand them an I Love Borwnies patch for their vests. Then we are going to get them to sing the Brownie Smile song. We will already have the council ID set, the numbers, the bridge to brownies award, membership star and pins on the vest.

Lots of ideas here at http://coy.ne.client2.attbi.com/LinksLibrary.html#Ceremonies

We are still planning but so far: We will meet at a local park (with a picnic shelter in case of rain). We plan to have a bit of a court of awards first to include our 4 Brownies, then the bridging...we will not give them their Brownie stuff yet. Too much work for me! We haven't gotten a bridge yet. Someone said one of our parks has a bridge that we can use or there are vairous patterns to make them easily. I even saw one suggestion that said use the slide at the park, decorate it, then have the girls slide from daisies to brownies! Looks like fun! Then we will follow with some munchies, not a full meal.

I have to do a few visits to the parks to see what will work best. We will have the girls make invitations at a May meeting, then practice the ceremony at our June meeting. We are bridging on June 9, so our GS year will end a little early. Things just get too busy as the end of school approaches!

just a quick note some councils have bridges you can check out with a deposit and then when you return it in good shape get the money back. We have one reserved I am having each girl as they cross the bridge stop and say something from the girl scout law like

" I have learned to be honest and fair"

I thought about doing a GS law thing as they cross the bridge, but we dont' have enough time to rehearse it! the slide looks so much more fun! I'm going to have the Brownies say "Daisy Daisy, growing free, come and be a Brownie with me!" as each girl crosses the bridge!

Our Daisies bridged at the park, which has a beautiful stone bridge over a duck pond. For fun, each girl had a helium balloon, and we all released them together; the girls liked that.
