Bronze Project going super!

Today, 5 Juniors held their first Brownie meeting. Only 4 of 10 possible girls in grades 2-3 attended, but we know that 2 more should come, just not today. The Juniors reserved the location, planned for the meeting, snack, drink, swap, games, lesson on GS Birthday, and lots more. They made flyers and invited the 2nd and 3rd grade girls and got another adult to attend as per the rules. And they made follow up phone calls yesterday to remind everyone about today's meeting. They ran the entire meeting on their own with only a few prompts from me... to move out of the muddy area when playing the game, to ask the girls if any had earned the try-it's they are planning for the future meetings, and to end when it was time. They also didn't realize that they "lost" a brownie for a minute until I pointed it out to them... the girl ran to get her stuff when her mother showed up and not one of them realized she left the group. I explained to them that's why they have adults at events! A simple mistake, but they are being hard on themselves about that one... and they have a plan that they are working on to prevent this from happening next time. All in all, I think they went beyond my expectations and the 2 other moms of Brownies who stayed were quite impressed as well... a bonus!

So, until next time...

How exciting! I'm glad their first meeting went well.
