Coach scheduled basketball practice

The 5-6th grade girls basketball coach scheduled practice for 3-5 after school tomorrow which is during our Girl Scout meeting. The boys 3-4th grade coach had to defer to the older and switch to 5-7pm. So, now I've got half my girls missing scouts and my son who usually goes to BBall during scouts will have to come to scouts and then stay for BBall (I'll have to feed him something while I'm leading the scout meeting.)

Why O Why did they switch it up this week? Everything worked out perfectly every other week.

And I can't cancel scouts because I've got 2 guests coming... one is on the board of directors- to check in with us and pick up her cookie order. The other is from the Heart Association and she is picking up our donations for the auction they are having next week. One is a Girl Scout cookie basket and the other is a Girl's Basket (actually all put into a plush footstool with a lid). And we have to finish 1 more thing as a pre-requisite before some of my girls start carrying out their Bronze Award on Thursday.

Oh well. Just go with the flow....

Is this just a temporary switch?

Well, as expected, all 5 Fifth Graders on the BBall team did go to practice instead of scouts. What wasn't expected was that 3 other girls didn't come to scouts either.

We had cupcakes and sang Happy Birthday to Girl Scouts. The ones who are going to a bowling event on Sunday were all there and were able to have some time to make SWAPS. The ones who are starting their Bronze Award tomorrow (leading 5 Brownie meetings) were there except for one girl and they went over their plans. My 7th graders went over their plans for leading a Junior badge for the girls in our own troop. And I had the 1 girl from another group fill out the paper work to set up a fun day at Camp for the littler girls. I only had 1 of 3 that I expected show up today that had to catch up on their religious award stuff... she finished it all! And I had 1 girl that didn't belong to any of those groupings and wasn't behind on anything and wasn't being in charge of anything and she was kinda bored.

Our meeting was supposed to go until 5, but at 4:30 when BBall let out and another girl had to leave for dance, I totally lost them. So, we all went outside on the sidewalk in the 60ish degree weather and soaked up some sun and ran around till the other few parents showed up.

Next week is the final tournament that the kids are playing for basketball. Generally, this shouldn't have happened, but since the older kids didn't get to practice pretty much all last week because of the tournament for 3rd and 4th grade at our school, they got first pick of times and thought they would make it easier on their kids by having it right after school... the lower your grade level, the lower your coaches status in getting the practice times that they want. I suppose that next week, any one of us may be scheduled for a basketball game in the tournament, but it shouldn't conflict with immediately after school... we will just never get home!

Thank you... it has been a bit much lately. Today (the birthday of scouting) I'm staying home to do housework and my boys are having playdates that are much needed. And I've been playing webkinz to try and find the leprechaun in the clubhouse area to help out my kids on their accounts! The thing is that I like it a lot too!

So, no scouts today, but wait till you hear about my weekend...
