WE had our Mother Daughter Tea Party today... it's something our service unit usually does around Juliette Low's Birthday, but this year we had a conflict and moved it to now when we usually have our ice cream social (which we decided to skip this year!)
Since it was Valentine's Day, we had the theme of hearts and did a project for the American Heart Association. Our contact at AHA invited a 14 year old girl with Heart issues (already had 3 open heart surgeries!) to speak to the girls. It was her first time doing public speaking and she did fairly well. Our girls brought donations for a kids basket to be auctioned off at their Heart Ball the middle of next month. And they brought cash donations to put together a Girl Scout Cookie Basket also for that auction. I thought we would get more items donated, but we did get $66 total, so some of that will help out with the kids basket.
All in all, it was a fun day with some songs, yummy tea sandwiches and cookies, tea and cocoa to drink, and visiting with friends. None of the other leaders wanted to be MC, so I said that I'd do it... it was a job that didn't really need any prep time or "stuff" to bring. And I also coordinated the service project part and gathered the stuff.
Now to just gather the rest of the stuff, put together the baskets, and deliver them around the first week of March (after cookies arrive to make that basket!)
